The Significance of Work Immersion and Academic Performance of TVL-

H.E Senior High Students

Rationale of the Study

Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A

Senior High student has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly

relates to the student’s post secondary goal. Through Work Immersion, the

students are exposed to and become familiar with work- related environment

related to their field of specialization to enhance their competence. Specifically,

the students are able to gain relevant and practice industrial skills under the

guidance of industry experts and workers, enhance their technical knowledge

and skills, enrich their skills in communications and human relations, and develop

good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work. These prepare

them to meet the needs and challenges of employment for higher education after

graduation. One of the goals of the K to 12 Basic Education Program is to

develop in learners the competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to

pursuing further education and/or joining the world of work.

Participating in Work Immersion is really important for the students. In this

study, the students would be able to value the existence of the Work Immersion
in their academic life with the idea of knowing its advantages and disadvantages.

Students should engage to this kind of training. It is because participating in

Work Immersion would already have an impact towards the students’

development. The students might realize their potentials after participating or

maybe, they might realize the deficiencies within themselves that they need to

improve so that the next time around, they can use their potentiality to an extent.

The study is beneficial, especially for the popularity of the school. By

letting the students know the significance of the Work Immersion and are able to

compete outside the school, the students would not just gain the exposure by

themselves, but also the school would also be exposed and promoted. For the

teachers, the benefit of the study is to be conscious of the very existence of the

Work Immersion. To the students, they would be able to know the positivity of

participating in Work Immersion. As for the future researchers, who benefit the

most from this study, they would make the study as their reference in line with

the significance of the Work Immersion. This study focuses only on the Work

Immersion participated by the students, its advantages and disadvantages, and

the reactions of the students towards the Work Immersion. Thus, irrelevant

matters that do not relate to the study are not considered as the researcher’s

concern. The researchers believe that this study is reliable and uses legit

information in conducting this research.

This study analyzes and evaluates the significance of Work Immersion

1. What are the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age; and

1.2. Gender?

2. How can Work Immersion help the students in terms of academic

performance?

3. What are the effects of academic interschool activities to students in

terms of:

3.1. Social Interaction; and

3.2. Academic performance?

4. What are the benefits of Work Immersion to the students?
