UNIT 0.1 INTRODUCTION TO THE CIEE TEFL COURSE
Welcome to the first unit of the course and to the world of TEFL! Being a teacher or international educator is
an exciting and rewarding profession, and this job allows us not only to travel to many parts of the world but
also to meet and work with a variety of people. This course will help you become a confident and successful
EFL educator and to help the many people who want to learn English to achieve their dreams. You couldn't
have made a better choice!

Assessment
Weighting Notes

Make the grade 25% Each unit (Modules 1-10) ends with a Make the grade
quiz. You'll only be able to take each of these quizzes
once. These grades will be averaged.

Module graded 25% For each module, 1-7, there is a Module graded
assignment assignment. These grades will be averaged.

Final graded 25% In Module 8 (Week 8), you'll complete a longer assessed
assignment piece of work, which you can use in your portfolio when
applying for jobs.

Final exam 25% This two-hour timed exam will be taken during the final
week of the course.

150-Hour TEFL certification course

Practicum Pass/Fail 20 hours of practicum is required to receive your


certification. You must submit the Practicum Location ID
form(s), Global Practicum Tracking Log, Performance
Assessment, and Practicum Reflection. You must receive a
4/8 on your practicum reflection to pass.

Tutorial attendance, To be In order to be awarded a distinction, you must attend 50% of


discussion board awarded the tutorial sessions, contribute meaningfully to the
performance, and distinction discussion boards, and get an overall 'outstanding' grade in

Throughout the course, the following grading will apply:


Potential distinction: 90-100%
Pass: 70-89%
Potential pass: 60-69%
Fail: 0-59%
