PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE


Function 1 : Duration before something happened in the past for a period of time
Formula : Subject + had + been + V-ing (V -ing = Verb –ing = present participle)

Situation : 08.00-09.00 : Paul had been waiting for Sarah for 1 hour
09.00 : Sarah arrived at 09.00
Combine : Paul had been waiting for 1 hour when Sarah arrived.
Sentence example : Paul had been waiting for 1 hour when Sarah arrived.
