 Verbs like explore and test tell what actions happen.
 The voice of a verb helps show how an action happens.
 In the active voice, the subject of the sentence does the action.
 In the passive voice, someone or something else does the action to
the subject.

ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE
In most cases, use the active voice in your writing. It helps you write
crisp, clear sentences. It is strong and direct. It usually saves words. But there
are three cases when the passive voice is good to use.
(1) when you want to focus on the action, not the actor,
(2) when you do not know the name of the actor, or
(3) when the actor is not important.

Example:
 Focus on action: A mistake has been made. (not You made a
mistake.)
 Name unknown: A woman has been charged with theft.
 Actor not important: The check was mailed on Tuesday.

Learning Competency: Use the passive and active voice meaningfully in varied contexts. (
Grammar Exercise 2: Choose the reason passive voice is used in each
sentence. Write 1 (focus is on the action) or 2 (name is not known) or 3
(the actor is not important) on each line below.
