DEAR HR MANAGER,

My name is Douglas Sano, I am 33 years old and I am presently seeking a position in the
Australian civil engineering industry as a Civil/Structural Engineer and this role can be the perfect fit
to do it.
I graduated as a Civil Engineer in December of 2013 and post-graduated in Concrete Structures
and Foundations in February of 2018, with more than 3 years of experience in construction. Also, in
2017, I achieved Chartered Professional Engineer status from Engineers Australia. My last experience
was in my own company, as a Project Manager, where I was responsible for gathering architects,
architectural draftsman, building designers and builders to build and renovate apartments for my
clients. Before this position, I had worked for about 2 years as a Field Civil Engineer and Civil Engineer
in one of the most important infrastructures projects in São Paulo, Brazil. My main duty in this role
was monitoring the execution of eight girder bridges, five retaining walls and highway construction
with earthmoving, pavement and drainage. Over my time on this assignment, I was responsible
together with a Senior Civil Engineer for administering a team composed of contractors. My other
duties were elaborate weekly re-ports to stakeholders with updated schedules, costs and incomes,
quality and photographic reports. Additionally, I was responsible for reviewing/elaborating structural
projects drawings and designs. Previously to this position, I had participated as a Civil Engineer Trainee
in other infrastructure projects in Curitiba, Brazil where I was responsible for monitoring the execution
of highway construction that consisted of four arterial roads and two interchanges. My main duty was
similar to the project detailed above together with elaboration of the As-Built of the project.
Another important point in my professional background was my position as a Structural
Engineer Intern in two companies specialized in Structural Projects. The first one I had participated in
for more than 1 year in execution of drawings, calculations and elaboration of residential, industrial,
girder bridges, post-tension concrete and infrastructure structural projects with the supervision of the
former professor of the Federal University of Paraná, Jorge Luiz Ceccon. My main responsibilities were

to carry out studies of architectural projects; ensure data previously obtained was correctly filled in
the supplementary spreadsheets; work on the creation and modification of computer model of the
projects in structural software; modification, adaptation and review of existing projects; detailing
specific elements in structural projects; preparation of auxiliary drawings for projects; organization of
calculation memories to be sent to the client; assistance in all project’s aspects of the structural
calculation. The second one I had participated for more than 7 months in the execution of projects
and reports of metallic structures, mainly of telecommunication towers. My main responsibilities were
the organization of calculation memories and assistance in all the project’s aspects of the structural.
Summarizing, owing to my work experience and being a pro-active person, a good team player
who is keen to adapt, working in an esteemed and reputable company such as yours I would grow
with the company, developing my career and reaching high goals.
