Unity in The Body of Christ

The document discusses unity in the body of Christ based on Ephesians 4:1-32. It states that unity involves living worthily as part of one body under Christ as the head, and growing up into maturity. Christ gave gifts to equip believers to serve and build up the church until all reach unity in faith, knowledge of God, and Christ's fullness. Lacking sensitivity to God, holiness, truthfulness, and building others up prevents unity and maturity. Partnership with the Holy Spirit through forgiveness and bearing one another's burdens also promotes unity.

Unity in the Body of Christ

(Ephesians 4($): 1-32)

Unity in the body of Christ is living a life worthy of the calling (being part of one
body) you have received. It is the bond of Peace. Unity is growing up into Christ who
is the head, it is being worthy of his calling you have received.

Christ apportioned his grace and called everyone to prepare God’s people for
works of service (Fruitfulness), so that the body of Christ (Church/Ministry) may be
built up. Building up or growing up.

GOAL: Until we ALL (God’s people) reach unity in faith and in knowledge of the Son
of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of
Christ. Maturity is being in whole measure of Christ. Body of Christ will built-up.

CONCLUSION: Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the
waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching (Inconsistent Faith and
Doubtfulness) and by cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grown up into him who is the
Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, JOINED and HELD TOGETHER by
every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in LOVE(GOD is LOVE), as
each part does its work. (Eph. 4:14-15)

Without these we are unable to reach unity and maturity or growth:

A. Sensitivity to the Voice of God- Having the lost of Sensitivity is giving one’s
self over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a
continual lust for more. It is the result of darkened understanding about the
will of God and the truth about Jesus because of the hardening heart. (Eph.
4:18-19)

B. Being Made New in the Likeness of God- Living in true righteousness and
holiness. Putting off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful
desires. (Eph. 4:22-23)

C. Giving not to Devil a Foothold- Members of one body must put off falsehood
and speak truthfully to his neighbor. In anger do not sin but instead do
something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share
with those in need. (Eph. 4:25-26)

D. Building up One Another- Building up one another in words, in action and in

everything we do in accordance with the needs of everyone. Do not let
unwholesome talk comes in your mouth, but only what is helpful for building
others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Eph.
4:29) Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as
in Christ God forgave you. (Eph. 4:32) Bearing with one another in love.

E. Partnership in Hope with the Holy Spirit- It is our Peace. Do not grieve the
Holy Spirit of God for through Him you were sealed for the day of redemption.
(Eph. 4:30) Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will
carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:5-6)
