Aristocrat-Connection SPC 2.5

The document describes the four serial ports on the SPC2.5 board: port P1 is unused; port P2 is always connected to the EGM; port P3 is the secondary system port and is only active when the dual port option is selected, usually used for additional systems like cashless devices; and port P4 is the primary system port where the accounting system is usually connected, though some jurisdictions require other systems to connect here instead.

Port Connections

The SPC2.5 has four serial ports as shown in the board layout below:

Port P1
Port P1 on the SPC2.5 is currently a spare and is not used.
Port P2
The EGM should always be connected to P2 of the SPC2.5 via the appropriate harness.
Port P3
Port P3 on the SPC2.5 is always considered as the secondary system port. This port is only active
when the Dual Port option is selected on the EGM. This port is generally used when connecting a
secondary system such as an EZ-Pay system, or an accounting system in the case of West Virginia.
Port P4

Port P4 on the SPC2.5 is always considered the primary system port. In most situations, the accounting
system should be connected to this port. In unique situations such as in West Virginia, the state-wide
security monitoring system must be connected to this port, in which case the accounting system will be
connected to P3, the secondary system port. Note: While Port P4 is designated as the primary port and Port P3
is designated as the secondary port, there is no technical reason why these two connections could not be switched
(provided the SPC ID Number and the Port configurations in the SPC Configuration menu are set correctly). For
consistency, it is advised not to switch this functionality.

Note: BESS is available ONLY on the primary system port, p4. It includes support for Extended Simple
Serial as well as the Coupon Cashless extensions and the Coupon Redemption extensions as defined in
the BESS protocol specification.
