d. Survey work area prior to start work to identify plant equipment that could be damaged
by the work and provide physical protection by barriers, guarding, covering or shed.
e. All machineries and equipment will be frequently checked by site supervisor to ensure safe
working condition.

6.0 Work Procedure

6.1 Work Preparation
a. Joint inspection with owner representative and Contractor before area handing over.
b. Area handover from Contractor.
c. Setting & marking out the reinforced concrete structures location as per AFC drawing by
surveyor using battery operated instrument.
d. Preparing formwork & rebar as per AFC details drawing at fabrication yard.

6.2 Excavation Works

a. Setting and marking out the new structure location.
b. Only competence operators are allowed to operate the machine for excavation work.
c. Excavation level as per indicated on AFC drawings.
d. Excavation area shall be larger than the foundations to given a sufficient working space for
installation of formwork at later stage.
e. Excavated materials shall be temporary store at a distance of 1m away from excavation
edge or to the designated storage yard.
f. Suitable excavated materials will be stockpiled at designated laydown area and will be used
as backfilling materials at the later stage. Un-suitable materials will be disposed at outside
dumping area.
g. To provide proper ladder with as an access for workers to work inside the excavated pit.
h. Dewatering the water inside excavated pit with water pump into the nearest drainage.
i. Compact the excavated pit with plate compactor/1 ton roller (depending on site condition)
prior to start construction work for foundation.
6.3 Construction of Reinforced Concrete Structures (Foundation & Slab)
a. Marking out and pouring lean concrete on the exact location of concrete structure.
b. For concrete ground floor slab, a layer of Damp Proof Membrane shall be installed to
prevent the rise of moisture or damp through the structure flooring.
c. Transport in the prefabricated formwork & rebar by truck/lorry crane.
d. Rebar must be cut and bent according to the AFC drawings.
e. Steel reinforcing bars shall be kept clean and shall be free from pitting, loose rust, will scale,
oil, grease, or any other material which may impair the bond between the concrete and
the reinforcement.
f. Installing the formwork & rebar as per AFC drawings.
g. All formwork shall be soundly constructed, firmly supported, adequately strutted, braced
and tied to withstand the placing and vibrating of concrete, construction loads and the
effects of weather.
h. For foundation with high pedestal, tie-rod will be used to tighten the formwork to avoid
formwork breakage during the concreting work.
i. Erection the working platform and provide safe access if required for installation of
formwork, rebar and pouring activities on pedestal part.
j. Firm the pedestal’s formwork and set the position & level of anchor bolt / pocket
/embedded plate by surveyor as per AFC drawings.
k. Joint Inspection with owner representative to check the dimension, rebar arrangement,
alignment and level of concrete structure, setting of anchor bolt/embedded item prior to
proceed with concreting.
l. Concreting pouring by using concrete mixer, chute, vibrator, mobile crane, bucket & other
necessary hand tools & equipment. (For large area, pump truck will be used for concreting
purpose)
m. Before placing of concrete, all oil, loose fragments of hard material, earth, mud, and other
debris shall be removed.
n. The vibrator shall at all times be adequate in number, amplitude and power to compact
the concrete properly and quickly throughout the whole of the volume being compacted.
o. 6 numbers of concrete cube will be produced for each casting activities (Except lean
concreting work) and cube test will be conducted for 7 days & 28 days at batching plant.
p. Dismantle the formwork at least 3 days after casted.
q. Repair the concrete surface (if any).
i. Marking out the surface that needed for repairing.
ii. Roughen the surface with manual/power operated chipping tools (Depending on the
condition)
iii. Cleaning the roughened surface with steel brush.
iv. Wetting the roughened surface.
v. Apply the mortar cement and make good to the surface.

a. Backfilling works shall only be commencing after dismantling of formwork and newly
casted structure has been inspected and approved by the Owner.
b. Fill shall be placed in with suitable backfilling material with approval from owner.
c. Fill adjacent to structures shall be placed in a manner which will prevent damage to the
structures and will allow structures to assume the loads from the fill gradually and
uniformly.
d. Backfilled area shall be compacted properly with plate compactor/roller.

6.5 Lifting Activities

a. Make sure all the lifting tools, shackles, sling belt and mobile crane had been checked and
in good condition.
