Set Up T&R Safe Position Encoder


Encoder is Installed at Turret Drive Gearbox on Drive Side

The Profinet Device Name will be assigned at first download of the HW-Config.
Once the Hardware is loaded to the S7-CPU and a new encoder is connected, e.g. in case of
installing a spare encoder, the device name will be assigned automatically.

Note: This is only working if Profinet-Topology is set (Standard at Imperial Winder).


If not the device name must be assigned manually.

For Parameter Setting open S7-HW-Config.


To check/set the parameters Slot 1 and 2 must be opened with a double click.

Select the Tab “Profisafe”. The here shown Parameters are valid for Imperial Winders.

The Destination Adress must be adjusted at the encoder by using the two DIP-Switches

The setting becomes active after a Power Off/ON

The Preset is to be done via the HMI HW Preset Page.

To access HW-Screen User „Maintenance“ must be selected

To Preset Service Mode must be activated. Therefore the Key switch in Main Desk +CD
must be turned to “ON” Position.

Emergency Stop must not be active and all Drives must be switched Off

When Service Mode is active it is Shown on Main Screen in “Operation Mode” Field

To Preset the Turret Disc must be locked.

It doesn’t matter whether Winder A or B is in Winding Position.

To check whether Turret disc is in Locking Position a calibartion point is defined on turret
disc Drive Side

To be checked e.g. with a ruler or semilar

To Preset the Softbutton “Preset” must be pushed for 3s.

When Winder A is in Winding Position 0 Degree must be displayed as actual Position.


When Winder B is in Winding Position 180 Degree must be displayed as actual Position.
