SET-UP GUIDE

Warnings and Cautionary Points


• The unpacking and setup procedure shall be done by a qualified service technician.
• Be sure to unplug the power cable of the equipment before installing and setting up the product.
• Disconnect the ground wire after unplugging the power cable. In addition, be sure to connect the ground wire
before plugging the power cable.
• Install the equipment near an outlet. Be sure to wire the power cable securely so as to unplug it easily and not
to trip over it.
• According to the equipment model, these illustrations may differ.
• Be sure to secure any optional Large Capacity Feeder (LCF) or Paper Feed Pedestal (PFP) with the
adjusters and confirm that the casters are away from the floor.
• Be sure to clean the adhering surface of the equipment before a seal or part is attached.
• To lift the equipment, be sure to have two people use the handles shown in the figure.

• Do not remove the tape fixing the platen switch lever until instructed to do so.

• Developer: D-FC30-Y / D-FC30-M / D-FC30-C / D-FC30-K


COMPONENTS:
Iron oxide (1309-37-1), Manganese oxide (1344-43-0), Magnesium oxide (1309-48-4),
Polyester resin, Organic pigment, Carbon black (only D-FC30-K)
- Be careful not to inhale or get developer in your eye.
- If you develop a cough after inhaling developer, get medical attention.
- If developer gets in your eye, wash it out immediately and get medical attention should irritation persist.

9. Remove the protective parts [J] and dispose
of them.

12. Remove the protection sheet [L] of the
developer unit and that of the cleaner unit [R],
and dispose of them.

1) Remove [N]. A
While holding A (2 places) as shown in the

figure, remove in the direction B.

2) Lower, and then rotate the lever.


Perform (A) and then (B) in order, as shown A B
in the figure.

3) Lower the lever.

4) Take off [S].
While pushing A as shown in the figure, pull
in the direction B.

11) Pull out the protection sheet [L] and dispose


of it.
Remove the protection sheet [L] of the
developer units Y, M, C and K. L

20. Remove the cable as shown in the figure and
connect the connector.

„ Automatic Setup
Never turn the power OFF with the main power switch until the automatic setup has been completed.

1. Turn the power ON with the main power


switch.

2. Press [OK] on the AUTHENTICATION screen.


* A password is unnecessary.

3. When the screen shown in the figure appears,


press [OK].

4. When the status of the screen becomes


similar to that shown in the figure, press
[OK].
When the center row of the screen with voltage
values (V) is filled, press [OK].

5. Install the toner cartridges.

1) Shake the toner cartridge well.

2) Turn the toner cartridge as shown in the


figure and pull out the seal. Y,M,C,K

3) Install the corresponding color of toner


cartridge in the developer unit. Y M C K
* Push until it comes to a stop and you hear
a "click" sound.

4) Close the front cover.

5) When the screen shown in the figure


appears, press [OK].
Then the image quality control adjustment
starts.

6. The image quality control adjustment is


performed.
The screen shown in the figure is displayed
during calibration.
When the image quality control adjustment is
completed, the color registration adjustment
starts.

7. The color registration adjustment is


performed.
The screen shown in the figure is displayed
during calibration.

8. The fuser unit thermistor correction is
performed.
The screen shown in the figure is displayed
during calibration.

9. The automatic gamma adjustment for


copying is performed.

1) Place A4 or LT paper in the drawer.

2) Press [OK].
The test chart for calibration is output.

3) Set the test chart on the original glass and
press [OK].
The scanner reads the original and
calibration starts automatically.

4) Check that calibration is completed and


remove the test chart from the original glass.
* When calibration fails, the screen shown
in the figure is displayed. Since the test
chart may have deviated from the
appropriate position, set it correctly and
perform calibration again.

10. The automatic gamma adjustment for 600 dpi


printer is performed.

1) Place A4 or LT paper in the drawer.

2) Press [OK].
The test chart for calibration is output.

3) Set the test chart on the original glass and


press [OK].
The scanner reads the original and
calibration starts automatically.

4) Check that calibration is completed and
remove the test chart from the original glass.
* When calibration fails, the screen shown
in the figure is displayed. Since the test
chart may have deviated from the
appropriate position, set it correctly and
perform calibration again.

11. The automatic gamma adjustment for 1200


dpi printer is performed.
* Only for e-STUDIO2050C/2550C.

1) Place A4 or LT paper in the drawer.

2) Press [OK].
The test chart for calibration is output.

3) Set the test chart on the original glass and


press [OK].
The scanner reads the original and
calibration starts automatically.

4) Check that calibration is completed and


remove the test chart from the original glass.
* When calibration fails, the screen shown
in the figure is displayed. Since the test
chart may have deviated from the
appropriate position, set it correctly and
perform calibration again.

12. Check that all calibrations are completed
properly.
When all calibrations are completed properly, the
screen shown in the figure is displayed.

13. Press the [ON/OFF] button on the control


panel until the screen goes off.

Automatic calibration is now completed.

„ Setting Date and Time


1. Press the [ON/OFF] button.
2. Press [USER FUNCTIONS].
3. Press [ADMIN], and then [PASSWORD].
Enter the administrator password [123456] (default), and then press [OK].
4. Press [GENERAL], [CLOCK] and [DATE/TIME].
5. Enter the values for year, month, date, hour and minute, and then press [OK].
6. Shut down the equipment by pressing the [ON/OFF] button until you hear a sound.
7. Turn the main power switch OFF.
