The document contains 10 problems submitted by Venus Gjervie L. Yu to design square column footings and wall footings. Each problem provides specifications like column/wall size, loads, soil properties, reinforcement details, and requests calculation of footing dimensions and bearing pressure. The problems involve designing square footings to support interior columns of various sizes carrying axial loads, and designing wall footings to support reinforced concrete walls of different loads and depths below grade.

Design of Square Footing

Submitted by:
Yu, Venus Gjervie L.
1. Design a square single footing to support a 450mm square
tied interior column. The column carries an unfactored axial
dead load of 1090kN and an axial live load of 890kN. The
base of the footing is 1.20m below the final grade and the
allowable soil pressure is 240kPa. Use f’c=30Mpa,
fy=400Mpa, and γ soil =15.735kN/m³. Use 25-mm reinforcing
bars. The depth of the footing is 600mm. Determine the
bearing pressure applied by the actual footing to the soil
beneath the footing.
2. Design a square single footing to support a 470mm square
tied interior column. The column carries an unfactored axial
dead load of 1080kN and an axial live load of 880kN. The
base of the footing is 1.30m below the final grade and the
allowable soil pressure is 240kPa. Use f’c=30Mpa,
fy=400Mpa, and γ soil =15.735kN/m³. Use 25-mm reinforcing
bars. The depth of the footing is 650mm. Determine the
bearing pressure applied by the actual footing to the soil
beneath the footing.
3. Design a square single footing to support a 460mm square
tied interior column. The column carries an unfactored axial
dead load of 1100kN and an axial live load of 900kN. The
base of the footing is 1.20m below the final grade and the
allowable soil pressure is 240kPa. Use f’c=30Mpa,
fy=400Mpa, and γ soil =15.735kN/m³. Use 25-mm reinforcing
bars. The depth of the footing is 600mm. Determine the
bearing pressure applied by the actual footing to the soil
beneath the footing.
4. Design a square single footing to support a 450mm square
tied interior column. The column carries an unfactored axial
dead load of 1070kN and an axial live load of 870kN. The
base of the footing is 1.40m below the final grade and the
allowable soil pressure is 240kPa. Use f’c=30Mpa,
fy=400Mpa, and γ soil =15.735kN/m³. Use 25-mm reinforcing
bars. The depth of the footing is 700mm. Determine the
bearing pressure applied by the actual footing to the soil
beneath the footing.
5. Design a square single footing to support a 460mm square
tied interior column. The column carries an unfactored axial
dead load of 1080kN and an axial live load of 890kN. The
base of the footing is 1.28m below the final grade and the
allowable soil pressure is 240kPa. Use f’c=30Mpa,
fy=400Mpa, and γ soil =15.735kN/m³. Use 25-mm reinforcing
bars. The depth of the footing is 640mm. Determine the
bearing pressure applied by the actual footing to the soil
beneath the footing.
