FS2Crew2010 PMDG J41 Main Ops Manual PDF
INTRODUCTION:
Thank you for purchasing FS2CREW: PMDG J41 VOICE COMMANDER EDITION. This is one of the
most exciting FS2Crew releases yet as it’s the first time FS2Crew has been able to interface
directly with a PMDG aircraft without having to use simulated mouse clicks or key presses. This
makes for integration that is very “clean” and “seamless.”
The SOPs modeled in the J41 Edition of FS2Crew are derived from the PMDG AOM manual,
which in turn were derived from Capt. Robert Randazzo’s former airline. While programming
FS2Crew for the J41, we attempted to model these SOPs as closely as possible within the limits
of what can be accomplished within the limits of a desktop computer.
This version of FS2Crew also includes a special version of FS VIDEO MARSHALLER, and we hope
you enjoy that new utility as well. Just remember that if using FS VIDEO MARSHALLER, FSX
needs to be in Windowed mode!
Again, thank you for purchasing FS2Crew for the awesome PMDG J41! FS2Crew is a very small
indie developer, and we appreciate your business and support as we attempt to service the
needs of the “hard-core” enthusiast flight sim market.
Bryan York
Developer – FS2Crew
Robert Randazzo and the entire PMDG dev team, especially Vin, Henning and Vengelis who
offered their own personal time to assist FS2Crew in the development of the J41 Edition.
Ernie Alston also assisted with helping integrate FS2Crew with J41’s FMC.
An additional thanks goes to all the FS2Crew voice actors and beta testers!
SUPPORT:
The FS2Crew team works hard to provide its international user base with the friendliest and
most prompt support in the business.
Please address all support issues to the FS2Crew Support Forum located at Avsim.
Please allow up to 24 hours for a response owing to international time zone differences.
If you experience difficulties with the forum, please contact FS2Crew support via the Contact
form on the FS2Crew website.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Important: When loading FSX for the first time with FS2Crew Voice Commander J41
Edition installed, be sure to run FSX in Windowed mode.
The reason is because if the Audio Engine generates any error messages, the error messages
will only be visible if running in Windowed mode, not Full-Screen Mode.
Please report any error messages to the FS2Crew Forum or email FS2Crew Support. Most
issues can be solved by installing (or re-installing) the latest version of DirectX and ensuring
your audio and video drivers are up-to-date.
Note that AppData is a “hidden folder”, so you won’t be able to see it initially. Just
type\AppData\ after your user name in your Address Bar.
FAQS:
Situation:
After loading the J41 (in windowed mode), I get an error message related to a missing DLL.
Solution:
Install the March 2009 or later version of DirectX redistributable from Microsoft via
here.
Situation: My frame rates dropped in half after loading the PMDG J41.
Solution:
Ensure “Language” in the Windows Speech Recognition tab is set to English – US.
Solution:
Make sure you are in Windowed mode, not Full Screen mode when signaling the
marshaller.
Solution:
Ensure “Language” in the Windows Speech Recognition tab is set to English – US (not
English – UK). If using XP, ensure the SAPI speech engine is installed.
Solution:
The J41 has a noisy cockpit. Using a Headset is HIGHLY recommended (make sure you
select HS on the FS2Crew Main Panel so you can route the FO’s audio through the
headset).
If you do not own a headset and do not wish to buy one, try turning down the Engine
sound volume slider via the MSFS sound controls menu.
Also set the FS2Crew volume to Max on the FS2Crew Config panel.
Situation: When I click the gauge used to open the FS2Crew Main Panel, nothing happens.
Solution:
Open the panel.cfg files for the J41 with notepad. Do you see FS2Crew window and
gauge entries on it? If not, it means FS2Crew did not install properly. In all likelihood,
you have a very common FSX registry problem. Please run the Registry Repair Tool
available in the FS2Crew 2010 Configuration Manager and re-install FS2Crew.
Other major possibility: The Battery Switches are not on. THE AIRCRAFT MUST HAVE
POWER FOR THE FS2CREW CLICK AREA TO WORK ON THE WEATHER RADAR PANEL!!!
Situation: The speech recognition system is not detecting my voice very well.
Solution:
Solution:
Toggle the VOICE button off then back on and this will stop the runaway loop. Also,
make sure you use the correct syntax –that’s very important!
Situation: The Speech Recognition system seems too “sensitive”. It’s even picking up engine
noise.
Solution:
Go to your Windows Speech Recognition settings panel and check that your microphone
sensitivity has not been reset to full. Do this AFTER the FS2Crew Main Panel has been
loaded.
During development, FS2Crew used Windows 7. We found the accuracy of voice recognition to
be extremely good. We recommend all users upgrade to Windows 7.
Run the Voice Training Profile in the Microsoft Speech Recognition properties.
Speak clearly and distinctly.
Use a high quality microphone.
Try to reduce ambient background noise.
If you forget the required checklist response, say “NEXT” or “CHECKED” to skip to the
checklist item!
(By “false positive” we mean an uncommanded voice command, such as “gear down”, being
detected by the voice recognition system and implemented, even when the user didn’t actually
say “gear down”.)
First, FS2Crew has tied many voice commands to select conditions to reduce the likelihood of a
false positive from undermining your in-game experience. For example, the “gear up”
command will only work under select circumstances. So even though the speech recognition
system might somehow hear “gear up”, our system helps prevent an unintentional “gear up”
command from being implemented by your FO, for example, when you’re doing the pre-flight
events or when you’re taxiing.
The logic is because the Pilot Flying (which in FS2Crew is you, the Captain) will have his hands
on the control column, and will therefore be unable to manipulate the autopilot easily.
Conversely, when the autopilot is ON, the Pilot Flying would set the autopilot panel himself, but
he would announce what he is doing so as to keep the Pilot Monitoring in the loop. This is part
of good Crew Resource Management (CRM).
“Heading 150”, “Course 200,” “Flight 140”, “Vertical Speed Up 1000”, “Altitude 3500”
Please see Step 23 in the Tutorial flight for the complete list of commands!!!
In your Window Control Panel -> Speech Properties -> Speech Recognition panel it should look
like this:
If you own a non-English Vista or Win 7 Ultimate, you’ll need to download the English language
pack from Microsoft.
If you do not own Ultimate, you can try switching your Windows display language to English
using a 3rd party program called Vistalizator:
http://www.froggie.sk/
INSTALL VISTALIZATOR AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! But a lot of FS2Crew users have
successfully used Vistalizator in the past and reported good results!!!- Bryan
XP Users:
1. XP users may or may not have the required SAPI engine installed on their computer.
To check if you already have SAPI voice recognition software on your computer, open the
Windows Control Panel and click the Speech icon if it’s there. If you can see a Speech
Recognition tab, then SAPI is already installed on your computer.
If you’re an XP owner, you can download and install SAPI via this link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/4/3/B4314928-7B71-4336-9DE7-
6FA4CF00B7B3/SpeechSDK51.exe
1. First, some background information: FS2Crew consists of gauge files. These gauge files only get
loaded when they are included on the host aircraft’s panel.cfg file. If these gauge files are not
present on the host aircraft’s panel.cfg file, then FS2Crew will not load when you load the J-41.
2. The PMDG J-41 has three separate panel.cfg files, which are located in:
o panel.cfg
o panel_HIDEF.cfg
o panel_LODEF.cfg
The only config file that Flight Simulator X will load when you select the J-41 is “panel.cfg”.
3. The FS2Crew installer will automatically swap the “panel_HIDEF.cfg” and “panel_LODEF.cfg”
files with versions that contain the required FS2Crew entries.
Note that FS2Crew will not automatically replace the main panel.cfg file with one that contains
the required FS2Crew entries because FS2Crew does not know if your panel.cfg is the High
Definition Displays or Normal Resolution Displays version.
4. Next we must get the contents of the FS2Crew updated versions of either the HIDEF or
LODEF.cfg files into the main panel.cfg file.
5. To do that, open the PMDG J-41 CONFIGURATION MANAGER and then click SAVE
CONFIGURATION. Doing that will automatically update your main panel.cfg so it will contain the
contents of either the HIDEF or LODEF panel.cfg files as selected in the PANEL OPTIONS section
located in the upper left hand corner of the CONFIGURATION MANAGER.

If you decide to use FS Video Marshaller in game, FSX must be in WINDOWED MODE,
not full screen mode.
If you’re using a non-English version of Flight Simulator, CLUTCH (like the clutch used to
change gears in an automobile, or the rotor clutch in a helicopter) is:
French: Embrayage
German: Kupplung
Spanish: Embrague
Japanese: クラッチ
Italian: Rotore elicottero (attivo/disattivo)
Polish: Sprzęgło
LEFT SCREW: Open video panel so you can drag it to a new position. Left click again to close.
WAVE OFF: Wave off the ground crew when ready to taxi.
1. Open the FSVM Control Panel by pressing the keyboard or joystick button you assigned to
CLUTCH.
2. Left click the left screw as highlighted above to toggle open the video player window.
You can find the Checklist on Page 11 of the PMDG AOM Manual! Print it out!!! - Bryan
1. Using your MIDDLE MOUSE button, click in the middle area of the Weather Radar display.
THE LEFT AND RIGHT BATTERIES SWITCHES ON THE OVERHEAD MUST BE “ON’ BEFORE
THE CLICK AREA WILL WORK!!!!
MA = Main View
C-CO = Captain's Coaming View
C-PD = Captain's Pedestal View
FMS = FMS View
1. In addition to use the Main Panel Selector to open the Main Panel, you can also LEFT CLICK the
middle area of the Weather Radar display to open the Main Panel.
2. Let’s examine some of the buttons and features on the Main Panel:
Display Mode: Active Checklist/Action Mode. Mouse wheel can dim this display.
Right Arrow: Cycles Checklist/Action Mode to the right. Note: Modes will generally auto-cycle
to the next selection for you.
Voice: Toggles voice recognition on and off. Generally, you should never need to turn it off.
However, if the autopilot values “runaway” after asking the FO to set the autopilot, you can
toggle the voice engine off and on to break the runaway.
DSP: Toggles green bar on/off that displays what the speech engine detects.
HS: Routes most First Officer audio through your headset. Ensure the audio device associated
with your USB headset is selected in the Headset display in the Configuration panel. First Officer
audio that is not routed through the headset includes situations in which the FO would not be
wearing his headset, such as when he tells you that his external walk around is complete.
HM: Toggles “Hard Mute” on/off. If Hard Mute is on, the FO will not act on input detected by
the speech recognition engine.
LK: Click to LOCK the Main and CFG Panels (to force them open even when FS automatically
attempts to close them when you change views). Note that when the panels are “Locked”, an =
symbol will appear in the lower right hand section of the main display area. This is depicted in
the screen shot above.
As a backup in case users cannot open the FS2Crew Panel Switcher (due to a possible a conflict
with “Walk and Follow”, users can also RIGHT CLICK the LK button to toggle open/close the
FS2Crew Panel Switcher.
i) Check your PMDG J-41 panel.cfg to ensure it has FS2Crew window and gauge
entries on it.
ii) Ensure the batteries are on!!! The FS2Crew clickspot on the Weather Radar
will not work if the aircraft is unpowered!!!
Anyone care to guess how many emails I’ll get about this? Remember, the batteries must be
ON before the FS2Crew click spots on the Weather Radar panel will work!!! - Bryan
4. Additional symbology:
SOFT MUTE: Push and hold the button you assigned to the mute function in the FS2Crew J41
Configuration Manager. Release that button to unmute the FO.
HARD MUTE: Left click the LK button on the Main Panel to toggle on/off the permanent mute
function. Note that you can assign a joystick or keypress to control Hard Mute. SEE STEP 3 for
more information.
An “M” symbol will appear in the top right hand corner of the main display area when mute is
functioning.
1. Open the FS2Crew Configuration Panel by either clicking the CFG button on the Main Panel or by
right-clicking the middle area of the Weather Radar display.
2. Let’s examine some of the features and buttons on the Configuration Panel.
AUDIO SETUP:
CREW REGION: Regional accent of flight and cabin crew. Available options:
PRE-FLIGHT:
RUN PF: Run Pre-Flight Events. Only press this button if you want to run the pre-flight
events.
FF: Fast forward the pre-flight time down. Warning: multiple events will play at the
same time if you fast forward the time down fast.
FLIGHT DATA:
APP TYPE: Approach type: Precision (PR), Circling (CI), Visual (VS) or Non-Precision
(NP). Use the mouse buttons to cycle selections.
MDA: Minimum Descent Altitude selection for Non Precision and Circling approach. Use
the mouse wheel to adjust the MDA.
Remember that the MDA is for Non Precision and Circling approaches only. To set the
Decision Altitude (DA) for an ILS approach, you will need set DH via the DH selector on the PMDG
J41 main panel, as well as ensure that the landing elevation is correctly set! - Bryan
1. On the Configuration Panel, press the RUN PF button. FS2Crew will then shut the airplane down
and put it into a Cold and Dark state. Note that the time remaining to departure, which starts at
plus 30 minutes, will start winding down.
- MUTE SWITCH ON
- RIGHT & LEFT ENGINE OFF
- THROTTLE FULL REVERSE
- LEFT & RIGHT FLOWS OFF
- LEFT & RIGHT GENERATOR OFF
- LEFT & RIGHT BATTERY OFF
- LEFT & RIGHT AVIONICS MASTER OFF
- LEFT & RIGHT STANDBY PUMPS OFF

- BEACON OFF
- LEFFT & RIGHT WINDSHIELD ANTI ICE OFF
- LEFT & RIGHT AIR DATA OFF
2. FS2Crew will also automatically make visible the Ramp Manager objects, such as the cones,
chocks, etc. FS2Crew will also open the aircraft main cabin, baggage and aft cargo door.
The FS2Crew First Officer will perform the items marked with a – F.
- OXYGEN TEST
- GEAR WARNING TEST
- LEFT/RIGHT FIRE DETECTION TEST
- STANDBY BATTERY POWER TEST
- CAP TEST
- COAMING PANEL LIGHTS TEST
- OVERHEAD DETECTION FAULT TEST
Note that the checklist items for the ACCEPTANCE and COCKPIT PREPERATION in the
PMDG J-41 Normal Checklist are in Upper and Lower case lettering. This means the checklists
are not spoken verbally, but rather done silently.
2. You should complete both the ACCEPTANCE and COCKPIT PREPERATION checks prior to 15
minutes remaining to departure.
3. Run the PRE-FLIGHT BRIEF by saying: “ARE YOU READY FOR THE PREFLIGHT BRIEF”. Complete
the brief by asking “ANY QUESTIONS”. Please refer to the PMDG AOM (Chapter 4 Section E) to
see what items should be covered in the Pre-Flight Brief. It’s highly recommend that you enable
‘mute’ while giving the brief so FS2Crew doesn’t act on anything you say that might be
interpreted by the speech recognition engine as a command.
4. Make sure you enter the landing elevation of your arrival airport in the pressurization controller.
DO NOT FORGET THIS STEP as FS2Crew needs to know your arrival airport’s elevation as it’s
used as part of the calculations for some of the landing and approach calls.
5. With about eight minutes remaining, the Station Attendant will bring the loadsheet into the
cockpit. Note that no loadsheet graphic will become visible. Use the loadsheet that’s already in
the cockpit on the left panel.
When communicating with the ground crew and FA, you can respond using these phrases:
YES
YES WE ARE
THANKS
THANK YOU
- CHECK OXYGEN
- PREPARE WEIGHT AND BALANCE
Never forget to set your arrival airport’s landing elevation in the Pressurization Controller!
FS2Crew uses that value to determine when numerous callouts should be made! SO DO NOT
FORGET TO SET IT!!! - Bryan
7. When the FO’s turn flow is complete, an * symbol will appear behind TURN in the Main Display.
-If you actually want to perform the brief, make sure you hold the MUTE key down.
Please consult the PMDG J41 AOM to see which items you may want to include in the
brief.
9. Around the 9 minute mark, after you completed the CLEARANCE BRIEF and turn flow, call for the
TURN CHECK by speaking into your microphone: “TURN CHECK” or “TURN CHECK PLEASE”. Run
the checklist with the FO.
Note that the airplane symbol in the checklist means that the checklist item is only done on the
first flight of the day.
10. With 5 minutes remaining, perform your FINAL DEPARTURE PREPARATION duties:
11. When the time reaches 0 (the time remaining value will change to hash lines), and after the FA
has stated that he cabin is secure and the main exit has been closed, call for the BEFORE START
12. Note that FS2Crew will automatically hide all the Ramp Manager service equipment except for
the chocks and ground power unit when you call for the BEFORE START CHECK.
Captain’s real-world response phrase to this item in the checklist: “RELEASED WITH
________ POUNDS. _________ POUNDS ON BOARD, CHECKED.”
6. After starting the left engine, signal the ground crew to remove the GPU.
7. Signal the ground crew that you wish to start Engine #2.
8. If using internal batteries for the start, verify that the generator charging current is less than 300
amps.
9. When ready, call “CLEAR AND START RIGHT” or “START RIGHT ENGINE”.
10. The FO will call “CUT-OUT” and “ENGINE STABLE” as appropriate.
11. To abort the start call “ABORT START” or “ABORT ENGINE START”.
Reminder: Start sequence is: Engine #1 (Left Engine), then Engine #2 (Right Engine) - Bryan
2. Call for the After Start Checklist when the FO announces that his After Start flow is complete.
Possible responses:
ARMED
OFF
TEST/ARM
TEST/OFF
3. If using FS Video Marshaller, signal the ground crew to remove the chocks.
4. Signal the ground crew that you’re ready to taxi (select Waveoff).
5. Turn on the taxi light.
The FO’s After Start flow is fairly long… give the FO time to complete all his required
actions!!! Be patient! - Bryan
2. After completing your flow, call for the TAXI CHECK by saying “TAXI CHECK” or “TAXI CHECK
PLEASE”.
3. The FO will run his Taxi flow after you call for the TAXI CHECK.
- SELECT FLAPS 9
- UNMUTE THE CAP
- SET THE FLIGHT DIRECTOR TO ALT SEL & HDG SEL (Capt must press GA
first!)
- SET RUNWAY HEADING AND INITIAL ALT (needed until PMDG J41 SP2!)
- RELEASE GUST LOCK
- PA ANNOUNCMENT: FA PREPARE FOR DEPARTURE
- WX RADAR TEST (REALITY XP WX RADAR)
In the real-world, the FO will also set the runway heading and initial altitude during his taxi
flow. The capability is currently coded into FS2Crew, HOWEVER, it will not work until PMDG released
SP2 for the PMDG J41 as it required some coding changes on PMDG’s end. I was hoping that SP2
would happen before I released FS2Crew for the J41, but it didn’t. So all it means is that you have to
manually set the runway heading and initial altitude. - Bryan
Do not forget to press the GO AROUND button IMMEDIATELY after calling for the taxi
checklist, or even before it! If you plan to use the flight director, double check that the FO arms ALT
4. The FO will read the first line in the TAXI CHECK after completing his flow.
INSTRUMENTS………… - B
TAKEOFF DATA………… - B
TAKEOFF BRIEF………… - B
State the initial heading and altitude and then say “COMPLETE”.
The FO will then state which V speeds were set (ICE AOA ON/OFF).
- TRANSPONDER TA
- PRESS TOCWS BUTTON
4. The FO will read the first item in the DEPARTURE CHECK when his flow is completed.
5. When the FO reads “THE LINE”, you have three possible responses:
i) HOLD SHORT
ii) POSITION AND HOLD
iii) CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF
6. You must announce “CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF” in order for the FO to continue the checklist
below the line.
7. The items below the line are READ AND DO.
When the FO reads “IGNITION/ANTI ICE”, you have three possible responses:
IF YOU OWN THROTTE HARDWARE: Your throttle unit may override the FO’s attempts
to set the Condition Lever and Throttle Position. BE MINDFUL OF THAT!!!
When you call “SET POWER,” the FO will attempt to set full power. However, your
joystick throttle may override the FO. Therefore, when you call “SET POWER,” manually
advance your throttle to the full forward position! - Bryan
THE FO WILL NOT SET POWER UNTIL YOU’VE TURNED ON THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS
(LANDING, STROBES, ETC). IF THE FO REMINDS YOU TO CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS, TURN
THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON, THEN CALL “SET POWER” AGAIN!!!!
- GEAR UP
- YAW DAMPER ON
- IF FLOWS OFF, SET FLOWS TO 10 UNTIL MAX AIRFLOW, THEN SET
FLOWS TO 3
- VAPOR CYCLE OFF
STEP 21 (Cleanup):
1. Passing the Acceleration Altitude, which is usually 1000 to 1500 feet above the runway, call
“FLAPS UP AFTER TAKEOFF CHECK”.
After passing the acceleration altitude, accelerate to 170 knots. When you reach
170 knots, call “I A S” and the IAS pitch speed will automatically be set to 170 knots climb
speed. If you decide to engage the autopilot at this point (“AUTOPILOT ON), you’ll be all
set!!! Just ensure that ALT SEL is armed on the Flight Director panel first! - Bryan
2. The FO will read the AFTER TAKEOFF CHECK silently but will announce when it is complete.

Press the FA button on the FS2Cre Main Panel to initiate the conversation.
To inform the FA of an event (such as go-around, etc), use your own words, BUT you must end
your phrase with one of the following phrases.
You MUST pause a second before saying one of these phrases so the speech recognition engine
can properly detect it.
Next: Press the button on your keyboard or joystick that you assigned to: ALTIMETER
(STANDARD PRESSURE) in the FSX keyboard commands menu.
When you press that button, the FO will confirm the altimeter setting.
STEP 25 (Cruise):
1. Monitor instruments.
*The V Speeds the FO will set are based on info published information contained in the
PMDG manuals The FO will set Icing speeds if the ICING AOA button is illuminated! - Bryan
- SEATBELT SIGNS ON
- SET INBOUND COURSE. IF USING FMS, SELECT MAGENTA NEEDLE.
- SET FREQUENCIES FOR APPROACH.
- IDENTIFY NAVAIDS WHERE POSSIBLE.
- SELECT THE APPROACH TYPE ON THE FS2CREW CONFIG PANEL:
NOTE THAT YOU CAN ONLY SET DH ON THE EADI WHEN BELOW
15,000 FEET, SO YOU MAY NEED TO DEFER THIS ITEM
DEPENDING ON YOUR CRUISE ALTITUDE.
2. After finishing the setup, brief for the approach by saying: “ARE YOU READY FOR THE ARRIVAL
AND APPROACH BRIEF?”
3. Complete the brief by saying: “ANY QUESTIONS”?
4. After the Approach Brief is complete, call for the Descent/Approach check by saying “DESCENT
APPROACH CHECK” or “DESCENT APPROACH CHECK PLEASE”.
Next: Press the button on your keyboard or joystick that you assigned to: ALTIMETER (RESET) if
the FSX keyboard commands menu.
When you press that button, the FO will confirm the altimeter setting.
3. The FO will turn off Prop Sync when the Condition Levers are set to Flight.
4. When cleared for the approach, arm APP on the FD.
5. The FO will call “GLIDESLOPE/LOCALISER ALIVE” if shooting a Precision Approach.
6. In real-life, when the aircraft is cleared for the approach by ATC, the FO will perform the actions
listed below. However, because FS2Crew can’t “read” if you’ve been cleared for the approach,
the FO will perform the associated actions when Flaps 9 are selected instead:
*The FO will call either “RUNWAY IN SIGHT” OR “LIGHTS IN SIGHT”. Due to tech
limitations, FS2Crew cannot determine if the runway is literally in sight the same way human eyes
can when looking at the screen. So I coded a ‘best guess’ formula to trigger the call. The code
assumes you’re approaching the airport on a three degree angle, so at 30 miles out you should be
around 10,000 feet. It’s the best I could do given what limited data is available. - Bryan
FOR “LANDING GEAR… DOWN FOR RUNWAY…. – B” RESPONSE, YOU MUST ADD A
LEADING ZERO (0) IF THE RUNWAY NUMBER IS LESS THAN 10.
EXAMPLE: IF THE LANDING RUNWAY IS 9 LEFT, YOU WOULD NEED TO SAY: “DOWN FOR RUNWAY
ZERO NINE LEFT”.
In real-life, the FO/PNF would typically turn on the landing light when landing clearance
has been received. In FS2Crew, however, the FO will turn on the landing lights at 1000 feet -
Bryan
STEP 30 (Rollout):
1. The FO will call “70 KNOTS”.
2. When out of reverse, call “OUT OF REVERSE, CONDITIONS LEVERS TAXI”.
3. The FO will then set the condition levers to taxi.
The trigger for the FO to start his timing for the 3 minute engine cool-down period is
when you call “OUT OF REVERSE, CONDITIONS LEVERS TAXI”. Do not forget to make this call! -
Bryan
- FLAPS UP

- TRANSPONDER STANDBY
- MUTE CAP
- APR OFF
IF NOT IN ICING CONDITIONS:
WINDSHIELD HEAT OFF

ENG/ELEV DEICE OFF
- IGNITION NORMAL
*In real-life, the FO/PNF would set the gust locks to on during the taxi in. But I deferred
this item to the FO’s shutdown flow because, when the gust locks are in, it’s often difficult to
generate enough power to taxi in FSX! - Bryan
STEP 33 (Shutdown):
1. When parked at the stand, announce “PARKING BRAKE ON SHUTDOWN CHECK” or “SHUTDOWN
CHECK” or “SHUTDOWN CHECK PLEASE”.
2. Signal the ground crew to insert the chocks.
3. The FO will then check that the engines have had three minutes to cool down, and he will then
start his flow:
- PARKING BRAKE ON
- SELECT FULL REVERSE AS ENGINE SLOWS THROUGH 50% AFTER FO
PUSHES STOP BUTTONS
GO AROUND PROCEDURES:
1. To initiate a go around, make the following commands:
“MISSED APPROACH”
Next, run through checklist using responses printed on PMDG J41 checklist.
2. Notes:
Upon completing the missed approach checklist, the FO will ask you if you want to divert to the
alternate or try the approach again.
To try the approach again, reply: “WE’LL TRY THE APPROACH AGAIN”. The Checklist Mode will
then change to the landing check mode.
