LESSON OUTLINE:
1.Introduction/Review: a. PACUO
b. Review of the past lesson will be conducted (i.e. Writing and
Synthesizing the Review of Related Literature).
2. Motivation: Activity: Tower Building Game
3. Instruction/Delivery: Interactive discussion on the subject matter will be done. The students
will be given topic to be reported per group. They are to discuss the
topic based on researches made prior to the presentation.
4. Practice: The students will be given time to write the following parts of methodology:
(a) Research Design, (b) Research Participants, (c) Research Instrument, (d) Data
Gathering Procedure, and (e) Data Analysis in accordance with the group’s
assigned topics.
5. Enrichment: Teacher-student conferencing/academic consultation will be conducted.
Content, grammar and format checking will be given emphasis. This is to
ensure the quality of the paper to be presented in the Research Proposal
Defense.
6. Evaluation: Research Proposal Defense will be done. The students will have to present
Chapter 1 (The Problem and Its Background) and Chapter 2 (Methodology) of
their research paper.

PROCEDURE

Introduction (5 minutes)
A. PACUO
B. Review of the past lesson will be conducted (i.e. Writing and Synthesizing the Review of
Related Literature).

Motivation (30 minutes)

A. Tower Building
1. The students will be grouped (5 members per group).
2. They will be given 15 pieces of drinking straw.
3. The goal of the game is to form a tower one of the material given. It should be
built upon the instruction of the facilitator.
4. After tower building, it will be subjected to different storm signals to be
represented by fan or any similar material. The facilitator must not reveal this
before or during the tower building.
5. Some other rules of the game include:
a. Specific time for planning will be given.
b. After the planning, talking will not be allowed.
c. Only the straw will be used as material. No use of tapes and other gluing
materials.
d. All participants must carefully follow the instruction given by the
facilitator.
6. After the game, the teacher will conduct processing with the following guide
questions:
a. What makes the task difficult?
b. How good it is to follow instruction or the procedure? Explain.
c. What are the factors which contributed to do the desired outcome?

Instruction / Delivery (150 minutes)

A. Interactive discussion on the subject matter is to be done. (Refer to Appendix A for the
notes.)
B. Guide questions for discussion:
1. What are the different designs of a qualitative research?
2. What makes purposive sampling fit for the qualitative research?
3. What are the different data collection techniques?
4. How do the different basic types of data collection differ?
5. What research instrument best fit your research paper? Justify.
6. What is coding as a data analysis procedure?
7. Why is it important to follow the methodology carefully?
8. What values could we possibly learn from the activity? Explain each.

Practice (170 minutes)

A. The students will be given time to write the different parts of the paper. As a group, they
will write the following sections of the paper: (a) Research Design (b) Research
Participants (c) Research Instrument (d) Data Gathering Procedure (e) Data Analysis.

NOTE: 1. As a group, it is advised that they should do brainstorming prior to the writing.
The rest will decide on the procedures to be used. If it is possible to read some
model structure. This will help the group arrive to wider perspective how it
should be written. Furthermore, doing some researches could best help the
group. The library and the internet could provide simpler and easy to understand
explanations of these matters that could help them better understand how it
should be done. It will also be helpful if they will ask an English teacher to do
the grammar correction.

2. This activity may also be continued at home due to time constraints.

Enrichment (170 minutes)
A. After all the parts are written, the students may now present it to the teacher for critiquing
and correction on content, format and grammar. It will be returned to them after the
checking.
B. Revision and editing will then be done.
C. For the second time, it will be presented to the teacher for another phase of checking.
D. After this part is done, the group will then get ready for the proposal defense by preparing
multiple copies of their research proposal and the slide presentation that will aid their
presentation during the proposal defense.

NOTE: 1. Considering the nature and requirements of the teacher-student conferencing /

academic consultation, time allotment may vary.

Evaluation: (450 minutes)

A. After the preceding activities, the teacher will now prepare the students for an oral
proposal defense. In this process, the students will have to prepare their Chapters 1 and 2
to be presented to at least three panel members who will critique and evaluate their work.
B. The teacher must ensure that the paper was checked prior to the proposal defense.
C. The guidelines to be followed are based on the Research Manual of St. Paul University-
Manila. The guidelines will include:
1. Procedure of the proposal defense
2. Committees during and after the defense
3. Time allotment
4. Attire
5. Powerpoint Presentation Mechanics (Refer to Appendix B for the rubrics.)
6. Grading System/Scoring Rubric (Refer to Appendix B for the Rubrics)
7. Outline of the content
8. Final paper output mechanics

Valuing: (15 minutes)

 The students will be asked to watch a video presentation entitled “Why I Think the World
Should End?” by Edmond Sloan. This video will ignite the hearts of the students to the
value of honesty and integrity in everything that people do. The following questions may
be used for the processing:
1. What are the embarrassing ways of man that contribute to the world’s
deterioration?
2. How important for man to do the right ways of caring for the world and
humanity?
3. What ways do you do in order to help build the society?
4. How does the value of honesty and integrity could possibly change the world?
