Learning Styles & Multiple Intelligence Profile Assignment

Educating all students is an important goal of effective teachers. Using a variety of teaching strategies and
methods that will address all learning styles ensures all students will enhance their understanding of new
material. The better we know our student’s areas of strengths in learning the more effective we can become in
facilitating classroom learning opportunities. It is also important for us to be aware of our own learning
preferences. Understanding our preferred styles of learning or intelligences allows us to utilize our strengths
while challenging ourselves to explore other styles of learning.

Take the following surveys and discover your preferred learning styles and intelligences. With this information
write a reflection paper answering in following:
● What does this information mean to you as a future teacher?
● How will knowing this information about yourself affect your future students?
● Explain how you might address teaching students with various styles of learning and provide two
examples of classroom activities that you will use to enhance the learning of all your students.

This reflection should be a minimum of one page/500 words in length. This assignment should be typed and
ready to turn in with copies of both your survey results on the due date discussed in class and listed on your
checklist.

Learning Styles Reflection

An important part of teaching is letting students figure out what their best learning style is. By taking the
learning styles profile and multiple intelligence surveys, I learned more about each learning style and how each
one helps individual students learn better. This information helped me to understand how I learn best and the
reasoning behind it. It also allowed me to understand mutiple variations of learning styles and why students like
either one or the other better. It is also imprtant to let students figure out what learning style works best for them
and provide opportunities for everyone to try multiple different learning styles. It also shows how to teach using
the methods from the Multiple intelligence theory. Taking these surveys brought to light how to help students
who might learn better one way or another.
As a future teacher this information helps because it shows the reasoning behind why certain methods
and ways of teaching can help kids learn better and why. This information will help my future self teaching as it
will allow me to use multiple resources, rather than the ones that help me learn best, to help kids better
understand the lesson. Knowing students preffered learning style will make me teach lessons with different
styles and I will always be aware of how students are doing academically wise. Knowing the different types of
learning styles and which ones are preffered by students will reuslt in a sucsessful learning envoironemnt for all.
When in a classroom setting teaching kids with different learning styles, I would offer multiple options
for learning new topics. Multiple options of learning styles could include watching videos, reading text from
atrcles, books or textbooks, and doing hands-on activities that apply to the topic we are learning. I would also
address and try to figure out how every student learns best and use different techniques for every lesson. If
students learn best with hands-on activities, I would find ways to incorporate that into the lesson for the day.
For example, if I am teaching math to younger studets who learn better with hands on activities, I would use
some counting blocks during the lesson. If students learn better through music, like I do, I would find songs or
things icluding music and incorporate those into the lesson as well. I will also give each students many
oppertunitues to use and try different learning methods and provide examples for all.
