Ways To Solve The Problem Of Littering


Rampant littering has long been a serious problem in my country, Malaysia.
There are some places reaching endemic proportions. Heaps of trash dumps on
the streets are not unsightly and also dangerously. The litters are posing health
hazards to people and threat to the environment. So, the problem of littering has
become a very serious conundrum. There are some ways to solve the problem of

Firstly, the way to stop littering is emphasizing on the education in school. In
school, teachers shall educate children and conduct some awareness raising
programmes. For example, teachers can conduct a cleaning seminar. Teachers can
also make some class discussions related to cleanliness and carry out weekly
competition about keeping class and surrounding clean. (No link)
Furthermore, the second way to solve the problem of littering is
emphasizing on the education of general public. Nowadays, the Internet has
developed. Government can raise awareness of cleaning through the mass media
such as newspaper, advertising and so forth. This can instill the good spirit of
‘gotong-royong’. (No link)
Otherwise, the third way to solve the problem of littering is enforcement by
relevant government agencies. The government agencies shall make the
supervision of private contractors and also do the surprise checks or regular
monitoring. If there are someone who did does not abide by the Anti-littering
laws, he or she will be accepted the stiff penalties by from relevant government.

Lastly, the most important way to stop littering is the spontaneous of
populace. The populace can keep a littering bag in their car or hang on to litter
until they find a garbage receptacle and make sure the trashcans have tight-fitting
lids. Besides that, the populace shall share the proper way to dispose of trash to

In conclusion, everyone in Malaysia must work as one to solve the problem
of littering. (Weak SS) The keys to stop littering are the education of school
children and general public, the enforcement by relevant government agencies
and the spontaneous of populace. Hope the problem of littering can be solved
and the environment will become more gloriously.
