VLAN Routing Activity

Requirements
1. Design the network in Packet Tracer according to the topology (physical and
logical) indicated in the following figure.

2. Connect via console cable from the PC to switch.

3. Assign basic switch configuration, name, privileged mode password, VTY
configuration.
4. Create VLANs on the two according to the routing table.
5. Connect the switches via the Giga 0/1 port, turn them over and assign the
native VLAN 200 to this port.
6. Configure administrative VLAN 50 with IP address 10.10.0.1/24 in such a
way that it allows access to the switch configuration by the port F0/24.
7. Verify connection between devices and analyze the results obtained.
8. Add a router to the proposed topology and develop interconnectivity
between VLANs using router.
9. Generate collaborative report of the laboratory including results and
proposing what improvement will be improved network and how VLAN
routing was configure.

1. Network topology and connection evidence between devices.

As the initial topology, we must create later a router connection to have a better
data transportation.

2. Console connection between PC and Switches.

Each of the two buildings own three departments and they have assigned
individual IP. After insert “config terminal”, the name and password are
going to be assign for each department.

3. Assignation of basic switch configuration, name, privileged mode password,

VTY configuration.

4. VLAN creation for both Buildings

In both Buildings, we create VLANs and immediately we show up those VLAN in a

routing table. The routing table have the networks with those VLANs are
related to.

Finally, we assign to the VLANs the ports that are going to control.

7. Verify connection between devices and analyze the results obtained.

We can verify the connection in the network sending messages or files

between the devices of the same department. As we can see in the previous
image, the files were correctly send and there was no problem with the data
traffic in the network. In addition, we can say that each of the packets were
send faster and we do not detected any problem in the rest of the network.

If we send files into the same building the network will going to show failed
process because the switch was configure to send the files to the other
building.

8. After we add the router, we have to configure similar as the switches but in
this situation, we have to assign the two switches IP to the router.

9. The network has been configure correctly and the data traffic that it owns
works perfect. Some problems should fix with the complete IP and VLAN
routing but it is not necessary now.

To improve:

- Check if there can be an administrative PC without the using of a router

that control the data traffic.
- Use only one connection between both buildings or switches
- Change the IP in the PCs, achieving an IPs difference in the all network

VLAN routing was make connecting both switches and giving administrative
permission to a pc that has console cable. The router has the roll of bridge
to verify that the data traffic is going on the right way.

Traffic in the network is faster but maybe changing some cables in the
network, it will take a better answer now of send data.
