A Semi Detailed Lesson Plan

For Grade 1 Mathematics

I. Objectives
By the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
a) recognize and name the basic shapes;
b) identify a given shape through a “Passing” game; and
c) appreciate the importance of basic shapes in our daily lives.

II. Subject Matter:


A. Topic: Exploring the World of Basic Shapes
B. Reference: Varela, L.P., & Del Prado, N. A. . Growing with today’s Math. 22
pp.
C. Materials:
 Low Tech: Ball, Comparing Box, Instructional materials, and big
customized shapes, and pencil for child w/ CP
 High Tech: Laptop, PowerPoint presentation, and video presentation.
D. Values: Obedience, cooperation and appreciation.

III. Procedures

A. Preparation
The teacher will begin the class by greeting the students, leading the prayer,
and checking the attendance.

B. Motivation
The teacher will play a music video about basic shapes and the class will
sing, dance, and raise the picture shapes while singing. (E.g. If they are sing
square and circle, the other side will raise the square and the other side will
raise the circle.)
“Square and circle (2x)
Triangle, triangle
Rectangle is my shape.
Let’s meet them together
Basic shapes! (2x)”

C. Lesson Proper
 The teacher will start the lesson by showing big customized shapes (e.g.
circle, square, triangle and rectangle) and other concrete materials.
 The teacher will also flash the lesson using PowerPoint presentation for
showing the students other objects or things that have the shape of circle,
square, triangle and rectangle.
 The teacher will be using the magical comparing box. This material will
help the students identify the shape, and if the picture that is presented
has the same shapes. This will help the students to fully identify and learn
the basic shapes.

D. Activity
The students will arrange their chairs by forming it into circle and they will play
“Passing the Object/Shape” while sing a song. If the song is already stop, the
last student that is holding the object/shape will identify what the shape of
what he/she is holding.

E. Generalization
The Basic shapes are circle, square, triangle and rectangle.

F. Evaluation
The teacher will give a color and tracing shapes paper and pen test regards
to the lesson.
