Improved Fuel Pipe Connection For The Auxiliary Heater: Background

This document provides information about an improved fuel pipe connection for auxiliary heaters in certain Scania bus models. It notes that some earlier models experienced leakage where the fuel pipe connects to the fuel pickup unit. An improved quick-fit coupling union is now being used in production from certain chassis numbers onward. It also provides instructions for retrofitting buses with auxiliary heaters and lists the new parts needed for the updated connection.

Improved fuel pipe connection for the auxiliary heater

Applies to CL/CN-buses.

Background
There have been instances of leakage where the
auxiliary heater fuel pipe is connected to the
fuel pick-up unit.

Action
An improved quick-fit coupling union is
introduced in production from the chassis
numbers below:

Scania Katrineholm 1 838 016

Scania Latin America Not affected

Buses which do not have a auxiliary heater as

part of their specification will have the fuel
pick-up unit plugged. This is because the new
quick-fit coupling unit is always open.
When retrofitting an auxiliary heater, the plugs
will be removed and the new quick-fit coupling
units connected to the fuel pick-up unit.

Tightening torque 3+/-1 Nm

Note: Do not remove the ventilation valve A

from the fuel pick-up unit.
