Inner Child Homework

Your ‘inner child’ represents the consciousness of your body. In order for you to be well
and happy and moving forward in your life, this part of you need to feel loved and
happy. After the initial inner child work, your inner child will wish to see you regularly in
order to feel loved and cherished.

Visiting the child is best done while you are relaxed in bed either last thing at night or
first thing in the morning. Relax your body, do some nice, slow breathing deep into your
body. Soften the body. Imagine a corridor running the length of your body, all the way
down to your second chakra area (just below your navel). See just one door in front of
you. This leads you into a lovely room which you created (or was created for them in
totally remote sessions) in which your inner child now resides.

You don’t need to spend a long time in here. What is important is that you make a big
fuss of the child. Effectively, you need to ‘re-parent them’, you need to tell them all the
things that you needed and wanted to hear as a child. Tell them they are loved
unconditionally, that they are beautiful/handsome. That they can do anything they set
their minds too, that you trust them, that they are perfect as they are etc. Anything you
needed to hear….. make sure you say to your inner child. And give them lots of physical
affection such as hugs, cuddles, kisses. And also play with them, paint, draw, dance,
jump on the bed, do their hair, run around. Give them permission to be, permission to
play and enjoy life. This will enable you to do the same.

Also remember that these children are very wise. They know everything about you and
everything about your body. So you can ask them questions. ‘What does my body need
in order to be well?” ‘ How shall I move forward now?’ What shall I do about x or y
situation?’ Ask and then listen to their answers.

The most important thing for the inner child is that it learns to trust you and knows it is
not on its own anymore, that it is going forward, on a new journey with you. So do keep
giving it lots of reassurance. And if you do anything nice, for example, take a walk on the
beach, imagine the child being there with you. It will need you to keep your promises
both to it and to yourself. At the end of each visit please ask the child, ‘ when would you
like to see me again?’ And the child will tell you (initially it might be every day). It is very
important that you keep these ‘appointments’ even if it is for a short while. This builds
up trust between you and your body. When you are ready to leave, give them a hug, go
to the door, close it behind you and walk back down the corridor back into your body.
Do not worry if you fall asleep while visiting your inner child.

It is also imperative that you also keep your inner child continuously up dated with
anything that may affect you body – for the rest of your life. You don’t have to go down
the corridor to see it, just imagine you are connecting with it in your tummy, or simply
talk to your body or your heart if this is easier. So, for example, if you are having an
operation, explain what will happen and why it is necessary and ask the child to help
heal your body quickly. If you are having a procedure, like going to the dentist, let it
know. If you are going to do something scary, like a bungee jump, let it know. Even if
you are watching a scary film, let it know ‘it’s just a film, it’s not real, there is no need to
be afraid.’ If you are going to do something that scares you, such as attending an
interview or giving a presentation, do talk to the child beforehand, asking it to help you
to be as relaxed and calm as possible. If you are rushing, just let it know you are late and
rushing but there is no real emergency so it need not worry. This will help your body to
stay calm and reduce the production of stress hormones. It is always best to keep in
communication with your body otherwise it becomes confused, as contrary to our
beliefs, our brains do not tell it what happens so a lot of the time it ends up guessing.
For example, we might be going for a jog, but our body might think it is being chased
and in danger. So do get used to telling your body what is happening all the time and
you will be amazed at how your relationship with your body transforms and how your
life changes.

I know this may all sound a bit bizarre but these inner children are very powerful and do
exist within us in our energy field! To give you an example, I once went through a
medical procedure that previously I had general anesthetic for - just by talking to my
inner child! I was recovered during the course of an afternoon, whereas as previously it
took six months for my body to heal. Our bodies are massively intelligent and perform
many millions of functions for us in each second, but they do like to be respected and
kept informed so make friends with your inner child and see how your life transforms!

When your inner child trusts you, and is kept informed, you will come on leaps and
bounds in your life and your health will also improve.
