b. Individual Differences
No two individuals can be exactly alike. Even identical twins have
their own characteristics and differences. The rate of development
is not the same for all individuals. Some develop and learn faster
than the others. Learning is most effective when differences in
learner’s language, intelligence, cultural and social behavior are
taken into account. Knowing the differences of our learners is very
important so that we can identify which method, technique and
material to use to cater their needs. We should know each of them
and treat them as a unique child for us not judge or compare our
learners. We should understand and respect their differences.
c. Learning
Education is a continuous process. We, educators should not stop
learning and continue engaging ourselves in different activities like
seminars or training that will make us more knowledgeable or
intelligent in our field. We need to continue learning so that we will
be able to response to the increasingly complex society and a
rapidly changing technology-based economy, schools are being
asked to educate the most diverse student body in our history to
higher academic standards than ever before. It is our duty as an
educators to impart knowledge to our learners. We need much
knowledge about learning so that everything we say to our pupils is
correct, useful and important. We also need to understand subject
matter deeply and flexibly so that we can help students create
useful cognitive maps, relate ideas to one another, and address
misconceptions. We need to see how ideas connect across fields
and to everyday life. And, we need to know about curriculum
resources and technologies to connect our students with sources of
information and knowledge that allow them to explore ideas,
acquire, synthesize information, and frame and solve problems.
d. Personality
According to wikipidia personality is a set of individual differences
that are affected by the development of an individual: values,
attitudes, personal memories, social relationships, habits, and
skills. Each of us have our own personality. Since people differ in
many ways, it is very important us teachers to know the
personalities of our learners so that we will know how to get along
with them and for us to be able to understand them. Good or bad
teachers should understand, respect, and accept each learners and
consider their personalities in teaching them.
