Brille Adrian F. Fernando: G-12 Diamond

The document contains questions and answers about earth and life science topics like photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the reactants and products of each process. It also includes questions about the organelles where photosynthesis and cellular respiration occur, how cells get energy, and the function of stomata in plants. The last part discusses questions about the human body, how organisms adapt to their environment, how modern biology has changed lives, renewable vs non-renewable energy sources, and the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power.

What are the reactants of photosynthesis

Answer: The reactants for photosynthesis are LIGHT ENERGY, WATER, CARBON DIOXIDE
and CHLOROPHYLL.

In which cellular organelle does cellular respiration occur?

Answer: Mitochondrion

At the beginning of cellular respiration, energy is stored in the bonds of __________ molecules. At the end of the
cellular respiration process, energy is stored in the bonds of __

Answer: Glucose, ATP

What are the reactants of cellular respiration?

Answer: Oxygen & Glucose

What are the products of photosynthesis?

Answer: Glucose (sugar), Oxygen & Water

How do cells get energy to perform their necessary functions?

Answer: Cells get energy to perform their necessary functions by taking in nutrients from food.

In which organelle does photosynthesis occur?

Correct Answer: Photosynthesis occur in the chloroplast.

What are the 3 products of cellular respiration?

Answer: The three products of cellular respiration are ATP, CARBON DIOXIDE, and WATER.

What is the function of the stomata in plants?

Answer: Stomata allow a plant to take in carbon dioxide, which is needed for photosynthesis.
They also help to reduce water loss by closing when conditions are hot and dry.

Process in which cells remove phosphate groups from molecules of ATP to form ADP and free energy?

Answer: Hydrolysis

1. What are you made of?

 I made up of DNA, cells, tissues, bones, water etc.

2. How does your body works?

 Through circulatory system

3. Why do you look like that?

 Because of genes, genetics etc.
4. Is everything connected to everything else?
 Yes, everything connected to everyone else. For example, When we release carbon dioxide,
the plant/trees will help to increase the rate of photosynthesis and plants provide us food,
shelter, oxygen etc.

5. What happens to the chemical energy stored in the food we eat?

 The stored energy can be released by further chemical reactions. The food we eat stores
energy that is released by digestion.

6. How do organisms survive with its changing environment?

 Through adaptation. An adaptation is a genetic change, or mutation, that makes the
organisms better able to survive in its new environment.

7. How do modern biology change human’s everyday lives?

 In modern Biology we can easily discover new things, like doctors, they use modern biology
to make/create medicine that can cure some illness.

8. What do you mean when we say that something is renewable or non- renewable? Explain this in your
own words.
 For me, renewable from the word itself it can be reuse again and for non-renewable is the
opposite of renewable that cannot be restored.

9. Why do you think we mostly use non- renewable energy sources?

 Because non-renewable are used faster than they can be replaced. Once they’re gone, they
are, for all practical purposes, gone.

10. What are some of the advantages of using nuclear fuels instead of fossil fuels?
 The generation of electricity through nuclear energy reduces the amount of energy
generated from fossil fuels and also lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

11. Find out why many people, especially environmental activists are opposed to nuclear power. In other
words, what are the disadvantages?
 A major environmental concern related to nuclear power is the creation of radioactive wastes.
These materials can remain radioactive and dangerous to human health for thousands of
year.
