Animation: Grade 10

Animation can be defined in several ways but generally refers to rapidly displaying a sequence of images to create the illusion of movement. This is made possible by the phenomenon of persistence of vision, where the human eye retains a vision for about one-twentieth of a second. Early forms of animation date back to ancient drawings and inventions like the zoetrope and praxinoscope that used successive images to simulate motion, while modern animation is often created using tools like flipbooks or animated cartoons made from sequences of drawings.
