A Vegetarian diet “involves abstaining from eating meat, fish and poultry.” It is an eating plan which
focuses on consuming plant-based foods and products.

There are many reasons why people adopt a vegetarian diet. Among of these reasons include personal
or religious beliefs, ethical convictions, environmental reasons and many more. In addition, many people
are shifting to this kind of kind with the hopes that they can gain benefits which are absent from a meat-
based diet. They are not mistaken. Outlined below are only seven (3) of many benefits that we can get
from a vegetarian diet.

1. MAY HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

In a study involving a meta-analysis in 2016, researchers found out that switching to a vegetarian diet
may help a person shed some pounds, at least in the short term.

2. MAY HELP YOU HAVE A LOWER CHOLESTEROL LEVEL

Having a high cholesterol level is associated with heart disease. Thus, as much as possible, we need to
keep it at a low level. In a published systematic review regarding this matter in 2015, researchers
concluded that a vegetarians have a lower cholesterol level.

3. MAY LOWER YOUR CANCER RISK

A massive data of nearly 70,000 revealed to researchers that the risk of having cancer among
vegetarians is significantly lower than non-vegetarians. The study also suggested that vegetarian diet
may provide a shield against developing such disease.

studies and researches give us encouragement to shift to a vegetarian diet.
