The revelation of the Holy Quran begins in 610 AD when angel Jibril (AS) appeared in front
of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the cave Hira and started reciting the first verses of Sura
Iqra. The whole Quran was revealed over a period of 23 years. Whenever some verses of
Quran revealed by Allah Almighty, several companions of Muhammad (PBUH) served as
scribes and were responsible for writing down these revelations according to Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) advice. After the revelation of Quran completed, the Quran was
compiled into a book in time of first caliph, Prophet Abu Bakr (R.A).
After the Battle of Yamama, Prophet Umer ibn al-Khattab (R.A) gave the idea to Prophet Abu
Bakr of Compilation of Holy Quran into a Book. Prophet Abu Bakr (R.A) formed a delegation
under the leadership of Zaid ibn Thabit and their major scribes. They collected all the
materials on which the verses from the Holy Quran were written. In addition, the verses
memorized by the companions were also heard as well. Each of them was asked to show
two witnesses from the verse they read.
Thus, all the 6236 verses, 114 surahs and about 323,000 words of the Holy Quran were
compiled into a Book.
Quran says: Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the Earth were meshed
together then We ripped them apart? And then We made of water everything
living? Would they still not believe?
Today, Science has proved that Every living thing is made up of water. Now, how can
someone say this 1400 years before without the Science. This proves that Quran is the truth
of Allah Almighty.
Linguistic Proof:
Although everyone knows that the Holy Quran is revealed in Arabic Language. Since time,
Allah almighty challenges the Arab people(Disbelievers) to make even a single verse like the
Quran but they couldn’t. Even they know how read and write Arabic language. This shows
that the Holy Quran is a miracle from Allah Almighty that is the only truth.
For Example: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), challenged the Arabs to produce a literary
work of a similar caliber as the Quran, but they were unable to do so in spite of their well-
known eloquence and literary powers. A number of Qureshi orators and poets tried to
imitate the Quran, but they also failed.
