How To Load Firmware

Update the firmware on your scanner by first downloading and installing the Appload application on your PC. Connect the scanner to your PC using the appropriate USB or serial cable. In Appload, select the correct com port for your scanner which will be listed as the scanner model or cradle serial port. Then use the Appload application to select and download the firmware file to update the scanner. The progress bar will track the update and a message will confirm when complete.

Load Firmware

1 Update your scanner


First download and install Appload to your PC.

Connect the scanner to your PC using the USB or serial cable.


If your scanner is not recognized (in HID or MSD mode) please switch to USB-VCP first. (See Manual
or Quick Start Guide)

In Appload go to Settings > Port and select the scanner, it should show up as:
- Opticon USB Code Reader (1D)
- Opticon USB Code Reader (2D)

Or if you use a cradle:


- Opticon OPL/CRD USB Serial Port

Please select the correct comport, it will have a checkmark when selected.

Thereafter in Appload go to: File > Download, and select the firmware file.
Appload will now start loading the firmware to your scanner and show the progress bar.
When the update is completed at 100% a pop up message indicate that the update was successful.

If the scanner was using the USB-HID interface, you can switch it back to USB-HID.
