CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Background of on the job training

The development of a more advanced age in this globalization era are very
concerned with the value of the time to participate in development and all modes of
transport are being developed aircraft has become one of the modes of transport seed
this time, due to long distances means of transport is very efficient in its use. The
advantage of this transport is seen with the increasing growth in the use of air
transport services in the airport.

On The Job Training or Job Training program is one of the existing

curriculum at civil aviation safety and engineering academy of medan. For cadet’s
Aviation Safety Program guides Air Traffic Force VIII and IX to the education
carried out approximately 3 years or 6 semesters required to implement the On the Job
Training 2 times that one of them On The Job Training Aerodrome Control Tower.
On The Job Training Aerodrome Control On The Job Training is conducted at the
airport which has a density sufficient air traffic is at least 15 movements a day, and
held for 3 months or the equivalent of 8 credits.

On the Job Training Program was implemented to acquire skills as well as

skills to control and regulate air traffic significantly. And to develop and apply the
knowledge learned in civil aviation safety and engineering academy of medan either
the science of theoretical and applied science (practice) and the main thing is to
implement the practice as a Aerodrome Controller. In all the activities carried out
during the On the Job Training, these cadets are expected to apply all the knowledge
that has been gained during the 3 previous semester. It is also expected to absorb
sciences obtained during the performance TheJob On Training, and can develop the
power of reasoning to by face situation by thinking, analytically and logically.

1
To improve and develop skills in managing and controlling air traffic should
remain guided by the Five Objective of Air Traffic Services, namely:

1. Prevent collisions between aircraf

2. Prevent collisions between aircraft on the manoeuvering and obstruction on that
area
3. Expedite and maintain an orderly flow of air traffic
4. Provide advice and information useful for the safe and effisient conduct of flight
5. Notify appropriate organization regarding aircraft in need of search and rescue
aid and assist such as organization as required

B. The Objectives On The Job Training

General purpose implementation of the On the Job Training is a vocational
training to be an air traffic. To achieve these objectives the knowledge obtained
during the training in theory and practical classes in the laboratory need to be
supplemented with TheJob On Training. Because the On the Job Training is job
training as the application of knowledge and skills that have been acquired during the
education in the classroom theory and practice in labratorium so expect cadets can be
obtained harmony and balance between theory and practice to service the knowledge
of air traffic that is optimal, according to five objective.
In addition to holding job training is expected to develop the power of reason
and critical thinking to the problems that arise in the implementation loaksi Airport
On The Job Training. Because in implementing the On The Job Training this, cadets
Taruni directly involved in the control and regulation of air traffic includes procedures
air traffic control, air traffic management includes procedures air traffic control,
management strip marking types and methods of aircraft, phraseology and
coordination by utilizing the facilities available.
OJT is an activity that is required to practice in the field implementation by
cadets majoring in air traffic control. OJT basically held to provide an opportunity for
the cadets to apply sciences that have been obtained to be implemented in real
circumstances. OJT aims as follows:
1. To provide real work experience in implementing aviation services at the Airport
2. In order to cadets know how far science has come in with the fact that the actual
campus

2
3. Cultivate an attitude of professionalism in accordance with the implementation of
aviation safety.
4. Increase in expanding its knowledge and insight in the air transport sector, in
particular the management and orgnisme Airport
5. Train the cadets Taruni in improving the technic control, phraseology, nisiatif,
planning ahead. Implement procedures applicable as coordination with related
units, cooperation, discipline and responsibility
6. Applying the theory and practice of simulation in the laboratory with the actual
situation on the ground

C. Scope of the Report

In the implementation of OJT cadets and Taruni Academy of Engineering and
the safety of Medan Flight accomplish their tasks at the unit Aerodrome Control
Tower. Taruni cadets and serves as the controller or assistant controller, then in
implementing the aviation safety service established in accordance with essentially
that regulate the movement of aircraft in manoevering Area and in the Vicinity of the
Aerodrome in unit Aerodrome Control Tower.
In accordance with the decree of the Academy of Engineering and the safety
of Medan Flight, senior OJT implementation of air traffic controllers to force 8 and 9
has been set airport location is:
1. Kuala Namu Airport Medan
2. Sultan Taha Airport – Jambi
3. The airport Raja Haji fisabilillah - Tanjung Pinang
4. Sultan Mahmud Airport Badaruddin II – Palembang
5. HAS Hananjoeddin Airport - Tanjung Pandan

The authors of this report focuses on aspects of air traffic control in Aerodrome
Control TowerBandar Radin Inten II Lampung. And coordination with units related to
air traffic services unit.
