Magdalo. Talisay in Batangas Was Under Magdalo While The Nasugbu, Tuwi, and Look
The Katipunan of Cavite, divided into two factions, the Magdiwang and the
Magdalo. Talisay in Batangas was under Magdalo while the Nasugbu, Tuwi, and Look
were under Magdiwang. The Magdiwang had the following organizational structure:
Dios, Minister of the Interior between the Magdalo leaders. As supreme head of the
Katipunan, Bonifacio took it for granted that he would be obeyed by all. In this seeds of
discontent, I notice that the Magdalo and Magdiwang are not considered as one. They
are having partition or factions. They have their own plans. In electing new officers and
having new government, they were not able to agree Andres Bonifacio being the
president. Everyone has their own opinions and they want to recognize the government
organized by the Association of the Sons of the People but the Magdalo wants another
organization. They always want to separate. But when the time they had the election,
Andres Bonifacio was not the one who became president. And when he won in the
secretary of interior, Daniel Tirona requested for restoration of order because according
to him, the lawyer, Jose del Rosario, must be the one in the position. Supremo got
angry and in his letter to his friend, Emilio Jacinto and to his uncle-in-law, Mariano
Alvarez, this left a large poisonous thorn in his heart because they have an agreement
that the majority of the votes will be the one elected but they didn’t follow it.
THE KATIPUNAN AND THE REVOLUTION
As the assembly in Tejeros on March 25, 1897 was organized, they discussed
on how do they addressed the problem of their organization and the strengthening of
defenses. They had an election of president, vice president, minister of finance, minister
of welfare, minister of justice and captain general. They agreed that no matter what the
candidate’s station in life or his educational attainment is, if he would get the majority of
the votes, he will be the one elected. Voters had the freedom to vote but Diego Mojica
warned Supremo that the ballots distributed by Daniel Tirona were already filled out and
the voters had not done this themselves. Supremo ignored it. They proceeded to the
counting of the votes. The newly elected president was Emilio Aguinaldo; for vice
president, Mariano Trias; for captain, General Vibora; and, for secretary of war,
Emiliano de Dios. When Andres Bonifacio won over Mariano Alvarez as the secretary of
interior, Daniel Tirona requested for restoration of order because according to him, the
lawyer, Jose del Rosario, must be the one in the position. Supremo voided all matters
approved in the meeting because they didn’t follow what they had agreed upon. The
next day, they continue the meeting with the Magdalo leaders but no one came. Rumors
said that Magdalo had their own meeting. They posted troops to guard the Tanza parish
house for their oath-taking ceremonies. However, I didn’t know why there such people
who were secretly breaking the agreement and the trust of everyone. Also, I notice that
they are an organization but they were not able to have a good communication that will
As I have read the article, I think the first ever Christian Mass in the Philippines
was celebrated in the island of Limasawa and not in Butuan City. Some evidences cited
were: Pigafetta’s Mazaua, the site of the first Christian Mass held on Philippine soil, is
an island lying off the southwestern tip of Leyte while Masao in Butuan is not an island;
and Cebu matches the delineations made by Pigafetta of the distances between
Homonhon and Mazaua and between Mazaua and Cebu; and, Magellan’s fleet took a
route from Homonhon to Mazaua and Mazaua to Cebu that did not any time touch any
other part of Mindanao. Also, some of the English translation of the primary source from
Pigafetta’s account is not reliable. They said that the most reliable was James
Robertson’s English translation. Maybe there is just the misunderstanding among the
other translations and that the description of the place in Pigafetta’s account was like
