Main Activities of Our New Organization
Main Activities of Our New Organization
Ugandan farmers in the Teso Sub region have continued to face challenges penetrating
the local standards due to poor practices.
Today, most small holder farmers are ignorant on agricultural practices. Therefore,
their orange produce is rejected by the newly established fruit factory in Soroti
District for not meeting the standards, and many farmers are forced to cut down their
oranges.
Organising trainings on best farm practices to boost the production capacity of our farmers.
Our support team will go on field monitors and will record the production stages of each
farmer to determine the harvesting time of their other perishable produce and also to ensure
that the quality of the produce is not compromised.
Establishing offtake agreements with juice processing companies, exporters and
supermarkets, in order to provide a reliable and convenient market for our registered
smallholder farmers.
- 1-2 sentences summarizing your marginal impact (ie, the impact you will make compared to the
status quo) at a high level, and at an individual or household level. For example, your work might
reduce the rates of HIV infections by X% countrywide; and for an individual, could save 7 DALYs
(disability adjusted life years, which is a way to measure the cost effectiveness of a poverty
intervention).
Our organisation will benefit farmers, consumers and the environment and will have a high impact in
improving the nutritional status and the financial strength of over 300 farmers and could improve the
livelihood of each individual small holder farmer by 50 % in Teso sub region Eastern Uganda Region.
Outcome table: Over the next 3 months, 1 year, and 2 years, how many proven interventions
do you plan to distribute? And how many people will you directly help? We recommend
sharing this as a simple table.
2-3 sentences summarizing a rough draft of how much money you need for your pilot
program, and what the 3-5 major expenses are expected to be?
The Organization requires a total contribution of US$18,000 which can be summarized as follows:
Personnel (including employees/consultants/etc. (Kampala/Uganda)- $9,000, Logistics, Transport
and Storage- $5000, Training and Workshops- $4000)
Long Term vision
Our Long-term vision is to obtain proper certification needed to meet the Codex Alimentarius
Commission (CAC) standards an international food standards body which was formed by the Food
and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) so that we can
export our fruit to the European market.
