1. A beaker is a simple container for stirring, mixing
and heating liquids commonly used in many
laboratories. Beakers are generally cylindrical in
shape, with a flat bottom.

2. Erlenmeyer flask, also known as a conical flask, is

a widely used type of laboratory flask which features a
flat bottom, a conical body, and a cylindrical neck.
Erlenmeyers are used in chemistry labs for titration, e.g.
for pH, as they can be held and the contents mixed single-
handed leaving the other hand free to add reagent.
Erlenmeyer flasks are extremely useful in the lab setting
for stirring the contents by hand by swirling the flask, as
the tapered neck prevents spillage of the contents.

3. Aspirator - used for moving air,fluids, etc. by

suction.

4. Test Tube Brush is a brush to clean test tubes.

It is a device, made with nylon bristles attached to
a twisted-wire shaft, used to knock the bottoms
out of test tubes.

5. A test tube rack is used in a laboratory and it is

used to hold/support test tubes containing
chemicals waiting for further operations.

6. Wing Top/Fish Tail - used to bend glass as it spread

out the heat over a larger area, making it more
uniform.

7. A porcelain spatula is used in laboratory

applications where scratching delicate surfaces is
undesired as well as scooping up small quantities of
powder. It is made of porcelain which ensures high heat,
even surface and high heat resistance.

8. A Medicine Dropper is an instrument used for

transferring liquids in small amounts.

9. A stirring rod or stir rod is a piece of

laboratory equipment used to mix chemicals
and liquids for laboratory purposes.

10. A funnel is a pipe with a wide mouth, good

for feeding, often conical mouth and a narrow
stem. It is used to channel liquid or fine-grained
substances into containers with a small opening.
Without a funnel, spillage would occur.

11. Wire Gauze is used to support a container during

heating. The wire gauze helps to spread the flame
out evenly. It is also used to filter liquids and
solids.

12. A spatula is used to take and handle small

quantities of solid chemicals. . It serves as spoon.
You can also use them to scrape away samples of
biological materials, or chemical precipitates and
residues.

the crucible is heated. This allows direct contact of
the open flame to the crucible, which usually
contains a substance that melts at fairly high
temperatures.

15. A Pipette is a narrow, usually calibrated glass tube

into which small amounts of liquid are suctioned
for transfer or measurement.

16. A Buret clamp is used to fasten glassware into

place on a ring stand.

17. An evaporating dish is a piece of

laboratory glassware used for the evaporation
of solids and supernatant fluids, and
sometimes to their melting point

18. Spot Plate - A ceramic plate with small wells or

depressions built into it, often used for qualitative
analysis. The wells (or spots) are used to perform
reactions on a very small amount of materials. These
were extensively used in the past for chemical
reactions to determine mineral or drug content

19. A deflagrating spoon is an apparatus that is used

to heat small amounts of substances to a high
temperature.

20.A Florence flask (also known as a boiling flask) is a

type of flask used as an item of

to hold liquids.

21. A wash bottle is a squeeze bottle with a nozzle,

used to rinse various pieces of laboratory
glassware such as test tubes and  round bottom
flasks.

22. Tripod- is a three-legged equipment, generally

used as a platform of some sort. This lab
equipment is used to support and hold various
flasks, beakers and other glass ware when not in
use and also during experiments.

measures temperature or temperature gradient using a
variety of different principles.
