A NIGHTMARE: COVID-19 PANDEMIC

We are now experiencing a prolonged period of uncertainty and restlessness caused by

this Covid-19 pandemic. It has already affected the lives of people in almost 200 countries (and
still counting) globally. This global pandemic caused lot of changes in every Filipino people and
its country. We suffer both from the pandemic and poverty. Philippine economy was seriously
affected and since we consumed a lot of budget, the general government debt of the Philippines
amounts to ₱8.6 trillion as of June 2020.

Our current situation also affects how people think, act, and decide as of the moment.
Everyone wants to survive, everyone wants to continue living, and this obsession to survive leads
some of us to do the things they don’t want to do. Some commit crimes and prioritized their
needs even if it means to be greedy. Depressions are killing every one of us, the sufferings are
deeply embedded in all of us and some people have no other choice than to give up. On the other
hand, here’s the government, trying to fix all of this uncertainties and supply its people with what
they need. The government isn’t perfect and so the politician, that is why people are keep on
arguing, debating and blaming its imperfectness.

After all of this, I feel incredibly optimistic about the future, I believe that everything that
is happening right now has its message and purpose. There is an antidote to fear, as it is HOPE
that will pull us through these difficult times. By having faith that this virus will pass, listening to
the medical professionals and authorities, staying indoors, keeping good hygiene, social
distancing, and being mindful and supportive for those deeply affected either physically or
emotionally. Support the government instead of blaming them, no one wants to suffer. That’s
why we have no choice but to keep on going, because there is always a bright future that is
waiting for all of us. We will be able to persevere and come out stronger. Pray for the cure, pray
for the world.
