Background Information for Learners


In Technical Drafting there are materials and tools that needs to use carefully and maintain every after using
it. Maintenance is an excellent means of improving the performance and condition of equipment and
facilities. An effective maintenance program identified problems long before any equipment or facility
breaks down or deteriorate. A good maintenance system presents the early discovery of problems, thus
providing plenty of lead time effective maintenance planning. The students has to value the importance of
maintaining the tools and materials in making drawings.
It is better to own a few good tools than a number of poor ones. In acquiring tools, be guided by quality and
durability. Quality tools are known by their popular trade mark. But also consider that the life of any
drawing or measuring tools will depend on how well you take care of them. Drafting measuring tools should
be well maintained to continue working properly. Organizing and storing these items have a great deal to do
with keeping them in tiptop shape and good working condition. You can assure that your tools will last long
if you patiently and religiously take care of them.
Good workmanship is associated with the use of quality hand tools. Maintaining effective use of drafting
tools in the production of quality projects is the concern of every craftsman.
A good tool is a lifelong investment and the craftsman’s best friend. Treat it as such and you’ll be repaid a
thousand times through the results you will obtain from its use.
The factors contributing the interests of students in maintaining the hand tools, drawing instruments,
equipment and paraphernalia in drawing are resulting a potential good work/task which must be kept
working in organized environment to make a productive task or work of every students or learners.
