This hour long PD Session will take place on the first Monday of the month after school
has dismissed and students are off campus. The session will serve as an introduction to
professional development that be ongoing for a month. I will begin this session by introducing
the learning objective that are focused on maximizing student learning. Next we will review a
short video that outlines seven strategies to increase student engagement. Following this video
we will do a think-pair-share with someone at your table and discuss some of the strategies seen
and how we see them working out in our classroom. Then we will have a group discussion about

some of the strategies mentioned and the things we may be hesitant to implement due to the
behavior of high school students. Next we will view a short video on blended learning. This
video serves as an opportunity to see the strategies from the previous video implemented in a
high school setting. We will end this segment with group discussion about what was seen
throughout the video. Following this discussion we will jump into a presentation that begins by
our schools mission and vision and it is the motivation this PD. Next I will discuss the activities
that will drive our learning to successfully maximize learning during instruction. Two weeks
after this session each department will have a PLC with the instructional coach to discuss
specific strategies for the classroom. Exactly one month after this professional development we
will set up walk throughs to allow for peer observations as we begin implementing the strategies
in our classrooms. At this point the Building Leadership Committee will meet to assess the
progress or lack of at this point, and plan followup professional development as needed.
In order to hold each individual accountable for a successful outcome there will be
multiple opportunities for feedback from peers, the instructional coach, and administration. We
will have walkthroughs, departmental PLCs, opportunities for observation, and progress
monitoring of the data and feedback. We will push out evaluation forms after each session. I will
also use ARCS Model of Motivational Design as a guide to motivate my teachers to motivate our
students. This will be implanted via email as I will put together some form of media to serve as
an guide on how to gain the attention of our students, be relevant, have confidence, and satisfy
our learners. I will also make it a point to highlight teachers leading through this model as I
