This lesson plan is for a reception class of 24 students at Ardtornish Primary School. The lesson aims to teach students about emotions, specifically those in the "red zone" like anger. Students will read a book about feeling angry, watch a video about regulating emotions, and draw what emotions look like for them. The teacher will evaluate whether students understood the red zone emotions and self-regulation strategies, and discuss ways to improve time management and student behavior for future lessons.

Lesson Plan
EVALUATION:
• Did the lesson go as planned?
• Did the students achieve the specific learning outcomes?
• How effective were my teaching and management skills?
• What should I improve in my next planned activity?
• What do I want to discuss with my Mentor Teacher or Uni Mentor?

• The lesson di go to plan however the introduction went for too long. I would be more
cautious of the time when introducing the topic as the students started to become
restless and not engage with the topic at hand

• Yes, they were able to reach the specific learning outcomes of the lesson as they were
able to understand exactly what the red zone was and what emotions contributed to
being in the red zone. They were also able to identify strategies that could help them
self-regulate when they feel like they are in the red zone.

• My behaviour management skills could be more effective for next time. For example, I
would spend less time focusing on the students who were interrupting and stay focused
on the students who were engaged and wanted to learn.

• Time management and behavioural management skills is something I would like to

further develop for next time

• I would like to discuss with my mentor what strategies they recommend I use to stay on
time and manage student behaviour
