• What made these people feel mad, upset, angry or hurt?
• What did they say these emotions feel like?
These emotions are seen as red emotions and we say we are in the red zone. The red
zone has a lot of emotions in them. Mean, Mad, Yelling, Angry, Aggressive, Terrified
and Out of control.
Progression:
Students will draw what the emotion looks like for them on an A3 paper with colour
and detail.
We will then have a sharing circle where students are able to share their work, thoughts Progression: 30
and ideas. – 35 minutes
Conclusion:
We will watch the rest of the YouTube video where they suggest some strategies they
could use to regulate their emotions.
• The lesson di go to plan however the introduction went for too long. I would be more
cautious of the time when introducing the topic as the students started to become
restless and not engage with the topic at hand
• Yes, they were able to reach the specific learning outcomes of the lesson as they were
able to understand exactly what the red zone was and what emotions contributed to
being in the red zone. They were also able to identify strategies that could help them
self-regulate when they feel like they are in the red zone.
• My behaviour management skills could be more effective for next time. For example, I
would spend less time focusing on the students who were interrupting and stay focused
on the students who were engaged and wanted to learn.
• I would like to discuss with my mentor what strategies they recommend I use to stay on
time and manage student behaviour
