Hard Hat Clips – Reference Designs and Guidelines

RealWear currently offers clips for numerous hard hat models. We recommend customers use the
supported hats and clips to help get trials and deployments off the ground as soon as possible. These hard
hats are widely available in the global market and are used across industries. They are comparable in
price to other hard hats, and would represent a small fraction of overall deployment costs if purchased.

However, if a customer still wishes to use a different hard hat and can design their own custom clips, we
have provided our clip designs for reference.

• Download a reference design and modify it as needed for your hard hat.
• Design the clip so the HMT comes in contact and rests against the hard hat, to maximize stability of the
HMT (image 1).
• For best results, do not modify the base hooks that latch onto the HMT (image 2). For easy insertion and
removal into hard hat slots, maintain the finger hook profile and the angled side profile (image 3).
• Use the appropriate process (selective laser sintering) and material (nylon) when 3D printing.
• Print the parts or send the parts to an online printing service, such as Protolabs. You can create an
account to upload files and receive instant quotes with most services.
• Not all hard hats have accessory slots. Not all hard hats can be worn with the HMT – some have profiles
that prevent proper positioning of the HMT. In those cases, switch to a supported hard hat.
