Level 2 Project Status Report Template

Introduction: How to Use this Tool


This Project Status Report Template should be filled out by the project manager or another member of the project
team to record the current status of a specific project. Complete each section to provide information about the
current state of the project. Include details regarding:

 Deliverable and milestone status


 Risks
 Adherence to planned budget and schedule
 Tasks that have been completed
 Key accomplishments
 Upcoming tasks to be completed
 Any outstanding issues that need attention.

Use the Issue Log and Risk Management Workbook as inputs. Based on an assessment of project status,
choose a status summary rating of red, yellow, or green, and record this on the first page of the form.

To use this template, simply modify or delete all information in grey text, fill out all the necessary fields, and be
sure to convert the remaining text to black before printing or sending. In addition to the fields and sections below,
other tables and charts can be inserted to provide more specific information related to your project.

Issues
List principal open issues.
 Identify the owner of the issue – who is driving the resolution?
 Include a task in the “Upcoming tasks for this period” that will facilitate the closing of this issue.
 Don’t try to track all project issues in this report. Only list the principal issues and the progress made in
closing them.
 If resolving the issue requires management action, be specific about what help is needed and when it is
needed.
