South Jebel Field, Gialo Reservoir Preliminary Development Plan Outline

The document outlines a preliminary development plan for the Gialo reservoir in South Jebel field. It was discovered in 1973 and contains porous carbonate zones designated as "A", "C", and "E" with porosities of 20-22%. Initial production tests from wells in the reservoir were promising but subsequent production faced challenges with short pump lives. The preliminary development plan proposes drilling an appraisal well, interpreting 3D seismic data to define the structure, re-evaluating oil reserves, and preparing a development plan based on new data.

SOUTH JEBEL FIELD, GIALO RESERVOIR

Preliminary Development Plan Outline

INTRODUCTION
The Gialo reservoir in South Jebel field was discovered in March 1973 with the
drilling of well BBBB1-6 which is situated about 3.5 km from Jebel well P5-6.
After testing the deeper Waha zone, the Gialo formation was selectively
perforated and tested. The Gialo “A” and “C” zones tested 1820 and 309
STBOPD respectively. In July 1987 Gialo “A” and “C” were swab tested
separately. Gialo”A” produced from 1109-726 STBOPD with 4-20 % water cut.
Gialo “C” showed 793 STBOPD and from 0-14 % water cut. Because of the
inability to produce the well with a submersible pump, the well kept shut-in until
1997. After repairing of the casing leaks, the Gialo tested 495 STBOPD and 3378
BWPD. Subsequently, the Gialo was abandoned for deeper Waha production.

In 1984 BBBB2-6 was drilled to further evaluate the South Jebel structure. The
well was completed into Gialo “A” interval 1870-1880 ft KB and tested about 350
STBOPD with no water. Gialo “C” interval 2204-2214 ft KB tested about 400
STBOPD with no water. The well produced with a submersible pump 9.8 MSTBO
and 4.9 MMSCFG between October 1988 and January 1991. The frequent and
expensive short run lives of these pumps led to shut-in the well. In 1996 a
progressive cavity pump was placed in BBBB2-6, and it produced at an average
of 165 STBOPD, 387 SCF/STB GOR with no water for only seven months. In
Jan. 1998 the well tested 115 STBOPD when the well was first placed on gas lift,
but by June 1998 it was only produced 40 STBOPD and it was subsequently
shut-in.

Cumulative production from Gialo reservoir is 56.316 MSTBO, 2.797 MBW and
23.483 MMSCFG.
GEOLOGY
The Gialo carbonate formation of Middle Eocene is characterized by skeletal
material imbedded in a very fine grained lime mud and chalk matrix. Numerous
thin shale streaks are common throughout.
The porous Gialo zones are designated “A”, “C” and “E” with porosities in the
range of 20-22 percent.

RESERVOIRS DESCRIPTION
Initial reservoir pressure is estimated to be 861 psia at a datum depth of
1509 ft SS.

PRELIMINARY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

1. Study the feasibility of drilling appraisal well to determine reservoir extension.

2. Interpret the 3-D seismic to better define the structure.
3. Re-evaluate OOIP and reserves based on 3-D seismic interpretation and
reservoir performance.
4. Prepare suitable plan to develop the Gialo reservoir based on the data
acquired and study performed.
5. Initiate developing the reservoir after providing the requirements.
