Bandwidth Calculation
Bandwidth Calculation
This case focuses on how to plan the S1 interface on the LTE network.
Coverage areas in this case are classified into four types: dense urban areas, urban
areas, suburb areas, and rural areas.
Different parameters are provided in each scenario. This case introduces only
parameters related to this project and other parameters are set to the default values.
Adjust the network planning parameters as required. Items in red boxes require
modification.
1. Public parameters
(1). Duplex Mode: This project uses the TD-LTE technologies and therefore chooses
the TDD mode.
(2). TDD DL/UL Configuration: This parameter indicates the proportion of uplink and
downlink channels. Services on the network are asymmetrical services that feature
large downloading requirements. Therefore, the proportion of downlink channel to the
uplink channel should be 3:1.
(3). Cyclic Prefix: Use Normal CP because coverage areas are within the normal range.
For wide-area coverage, use Extended CP.
2. Scenario-related parameters
(1). User Environment: All UEs in this case use CPEs fixed on outdoor poles. Therefore,
deploy the sites outdoors.
(2). TMA Used: This project does not use the TMA.
(3). Frequency (MHz): This project uses the 1800 MHz band.
(6). MIMO Scheme: This project uses the 2×2 MIMO technology.
(7). Area Coverage Probability: Coverage probability in urban areas is set to 95% and
that in suburb areas is 90%.
3. S1 interface parameters
(3). IPsec Head (Bytes): This project does not deploy the IPSec. Set IPsec Head
(Bytes) to 0.
(4). VLAN Head (Bytes): This project deploys VLAN areas to separate services of each
eNodeB. Set VLAN Head (Bytes) to 4.
(5). IP Head (Bytes): This project does not use the IPV4. Set IP Head (Bytes) to 20.
Items in the blue rectangular box are about the S1 interface bandwidth. Before using the
RND, understand the key input parameters and collect correct planning parameters.
