4. Why should you wash your hands before leaving the lab?

- You should wash your hands with soap and water before leaving the lab because it is a primary
protection against unintentional exposure to toxic chemicals or biological agents. This is to protect your
health in other foreign substances that may leave a residue on your hands. Apart from this washing your
hands prior to leaving the lab can remove many of these potential residues, meaning that your hands
won't become carriers of disease to yourself, your family or your friends as you leave the laboratory.
