1.What is secondary storage device?
A secondary storage device refers to any volatile storage device that is internal or extremal to
the computer. It can be any storage device beyond the primary storage that enables
permanent data storage. A secondary storage device is also known as an auxiliary storage
device extremal storage.

Disadvantages
Far slower access data than ROM or RAM chips.
Hard disk can crash which stop the computer from working.
Regular crashes can damage the surface of the disk, leading to loss of data in that
sector.
Advantages
Communication – with help of information technologies the instant messaging,
emails, voice and video calls becomes quicker, cheaper and much efficient.
Globalization and cultural gap – by implementing information systems we can bring
down the linguistic, geographical and some cultural boundaries. Sharing the
information, knowledge, communication and relationships between different
countries, languages and cultures becomes much easier.
Availability – information systems has made it possible for businesses to be open
24×7 all over the globe. This means that a business can be open anytime anywhere,
making purchases from different countries easier and more convenient. It also
means that you can have your goods delivered right to your doorstep with having to
move a single muscle.

Hard disk- is an electromechanical data storage device that stores and retrieves
digital data using magnetic storage and one and more rigid rapidly rotating platter
cotted with magnetic material
Floppy disks- is also referred to simply as a floppy. Since the early days of personal
computing, floppy disk was widely used to distribute software, files and create
backup copies of data.
CD ROMs- is a prepressed optical compact die that contains Dede.
DVDs- its most prominent commercial application is for playing back recorded
motion pictures and television programs.
Pc card - a pc card (previously known as pemcia card) is a cedit card – size memory
or 1/0 device that fits into a personal computer. Probably the most common use of a
pc card is the telecommunications modern for notebook computer.
Blue ray disk – a Blu-ray disk (BD) is a high – capacity optical disk medium
developed for recording, rewriting and playing back high definition video it can
store large amounts of data and was designed to supersede the DVD.
Flash – a small electronic device containing flash memory that is used for storing
data or transferring it to or from a computer, digital, camera, etc.

memory card developed by Toshiba that used flash memory to store data and to
