Chap3 Spectrum

The document contains 5 problems about analyzing signals and their frequency spectra: 1) Determine the fundamental frequencies and plot the spectra of two signals 2) Find expressions for and plot the spectra of signals with different time plots 3) Repeat problem 2 for another time plot 4) Draw the spectrum and time plot for a signal that is the product of two sinusoids 5) Match time plots of signals to their corresponding frequency spectra

Spectrum

1. Determine the fundamental frequency of the following signals, and plot their sinusoidal spectra (both magnitude and
phase) and their exponential spectra.

a) x(t) = 2+3cos(0.2t)+cos(0.25t+π/2)+4cos(0.3t-π)
b) x(t) = 1+10cos(2π(60)t+π/8) + 2cos(2π(300)t-π/4)

2. Find an expression for x(t) and plot the spectrum for each graph.

4. Draw the spectrum for the following signal, and make a rough sketch of x(t).

x ( t ) = 10 cos(200πt ) cos(2000πt )
5. Time signals and their corresponding spectra are shown below. However, they are in random order. Match them up.
