Academic Contracts

Academic contracts are written agreements between teachers and students in grades 1-12 that outline specific academic tasks students agree to complete independently within a set timeframe. They are used to motivate and help students stay organized when struggling in certain academic areas. The contracts are signed by the student, teacher, and optionally parents. They involve determining learning objectives based on student needs, choosing resources and activities, setting completion dates and assessments. Examples provided are templates for goals, middle/high school, and elementary school contracts.
