Calculation Vent Sheltter

The ventilation calculation report provides calculations for required airflow in a shelter room and electrical rooms. It calculates the exhaust air rates for the transformer room and switchgear room based on room area, height, and air changes per hour. It also provides calculations for additional airflow required to dissipate heat from electrical equipment, determining rates of 1500CFM and 1500CFM for the transformer and switchgear rooms respectively. Finally, it includes a table listing recommended air change rates per hour for various room and building types to assist with calculations.

Project : shelter Room

Index

I. Introduction.
II. Calculation Sheets

I- INTRODUCTION

The submission project is a shelter Room consisting of Ground

The total height of building is 3.1 m
The ventilation calculation will calculate according to ASHRAE standard.

II- CALCULAIONS SHEETS

Ventilation Calculations

The required airflow calculated as follows:

Q = (A x H x ACH) /1.7
Where:
Q = Volumetric flow rate (cfm)
A = Room Area (m2)
H = Room height (m)
ACH = Air Change per Hour (as per the hereunder attached reference)

1) Shetter transformer room

Exhaust air calculation For transformer room

- Room area 2.190x4000 = 8.76 m2
- Height of floor = 3.1 m
- Considering no. of air = 10 ACH
change
So volumetric exhaust = 8.76x3.1x10/1.7 =159.7 cfm
air rate
= 170 CFM Approx.
Ventilation due to transformer heat dissipation
Total all the heat sources in the Electrical room. Typically this is transformers.
Transformer heat output is approximately:
Heat Output = KVA * % Loaded * (1-EFF) * 1000
Where: KVA= the capacity of the transformer
% Loaded = percent of the total capacity the transformer is loaded
EFF = Transformer Efficiency

This will give a heat output in Watt . Convert to BTU/Hr by multiplying by 3.415
CFM cooling = BTU/HR / (DT x 1.08)
Where DT = Max allowable space Temperature (deg F) – Temperature of the supply air

This will not include any heat gain from walls, roof, windows, etc. or other equipment
loads

To keep a 250 KVA transformer that’s 90% loaded cooled to 100 deg F (32c) on a 90 deg
F (37c) day:

KVA = 250 * .90 * (1-.98) * 1000 = 4500 Watts heat output

4500 Watts x 3.415 = 15367.5 BTU/HR
CFM cooling = 15367.5 / [(100 – 90)deg F * 1.08] = 1422 CFM.

=1500 CFM Approx.

Exhaust air calculation For switchgear room

- Room area 2300x4000 = 9.2 m2
- Height of floor = 3.1 m
- Considering no. of air = 10 ACH
change
So volumetric exhaust = 9.2x3.1x10/1.7 =167.7 cfm
air rate
= 180 CFM Approx.

Ventilation due to switchgear heat dissipation

To keep a 630 A switchgear that’s 90% loaded cooled to 100 deg F (32c) on a 90 deg F
(37c) day:

switchgear 4500 Watts heat output

4500 Watts x 3.415 = 15367.5 BTU/HR
CFM cooling = 15367.5 / [(100 – 90)deg F * 1.08] = 1422 CFM.

=1500 CFM Approx.
