This choiceboard will be used in the classrooom by 
students to pick and choose what assignments they 
want to produce for their midterm projects.  The 
activity is presented like a menu to coincide with 
the themes of Beowulf and the meals that they 
share within the text.  They will choose a smaller 
activity on the left side and a larger activity on the 
right side.   Different tools are given for the various 
items of the playlist and students are free to utilize 
tools that they find online.  This allows for students 
to proceed with the activities in ways that they 
think beneficial. 
This activity addresses the ISTE Standards for 
Students through elements: This activity addresses 
the ISTE Standards for Students through the 
following elements: 6a, 6b, and 6c.  This activity 
focuses on students being Creative Communicators 
by utilizing appropriate platforms and tools, 
creating original works or remixing items into new 
creations, and communicating complex ideas and 
mastery over the text through their chosen 
medium.  In the placement of the activity, this 
assignment is an assessment of their knowledge of 
Beowulf and thus communicating that knowledge 
creatively becomes especially vital.  Students also 
spend a bit of time as Knowledge Constructors by 
curating information from digital resources using a 
variety of tools in order to create artifacts that 
reflect that knowledge, as in 3b.  However, that is 
blended with the previous ISTE Standards for 
Students to create a whole entity of literacy 
assessment.
