I. Introduction
Background
Bullying is derived from the word Bully, which is a word that refers to the notion
of the "threat" thata person against another person (who generally weaker or "low"
of actors), which causepsychological disorders for the victim in the form of
stress(which appears in the form of physical or psychological disorders, or both; for
example, difficultyeating, physical pain, fear, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety,
and others).
Definition of Bullying according sensitive (Characters Child Care) was bullying is
the use of aggressionwith the intention of hurting another person either physically
or mentally. Bullying can be physicalactions, verbal, emotional and sexual Verbal or
emotional bullying is probably much more common, and it is also harder to spot
because bullies will often say that it was ‘only a joke’. Emotional bullying also leaves
no obvious marks or bruising, but in fact the damage can be much more serious and
longer-lasting. This behaviour can be either verbal, for example, through name-
calling, spreading lies about someone, or excluding them from the group, or physical,
for example, kicking and punching someone.
Based on data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), it was
recorded that for a period of 9 years, from 2011 to 2019, there were 37,381
complaints of violence against children. For bullying in both education and social
media, the figure reached 2,473 reports and the trend continues to increase.
1. Physical Bullying
Physical bullying is the most obvious form of bullying. It occurs when Punching,
kicking and other physical attacks are all types of physical bullying.
Unlike other forms of bullying, physical bullying is the easiest to identify. As a result,
it is most likely what people think of when they think of bullying and the effects of
physical bullying can be easier to spot.
2. Verbal Bullying
Verbal bullying is often very difficult to identify because attacks almost always occur
when adults aren’t around. As a result, it is often one person’s word against
another’s. Words are powerful, when it comes to bullying, sometimes verbal bullying
can result in deeper wounds long-term than physical bullying. Additionally, many
adults feel that things kids say don’t impact others significantly. As a result, they
usually tell the victim of bullying to “ignore it.” But verbal bullying should be taken
seriously.
3. Cyber Bullying
Cyberbullying (cyberbullying) is bullying using digital technology. This can happen on
social media, chat platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. Cyberbullying is
repetitive behavior intended to scare, anger, or embarrass those who are targeted.
For cyberbullying targets, it feels invasive and never ending. Bullies can come to
them anytime and anywhere, often in the safety of their own homes. As a result, the
consequences of cyber bullying are significant.
4. Sexual Bullying
Sexual bullying consists of repeated, harmful, and humiliating actions that target a
person sexually. Bullies may use technology to harass someone sexually (like sending
inappropriate text messages, pictures, or videos). Sometimes sexual bullying can
even get physical when someone tries to kiss or touch someone that does not want
to be touched. Sexual bullying isn't limited to people of the same age, either. Adults
sometimes sexually harass young people (and, occasionally, teens may harass adults,
though that's pretty rare). But most of the time, when sexual harassment happens to
teens, it's being done by people in the same age group.
5. Prejudicial Bullying
Prejudicial bullying is based on prejudices tweens and teens have toward people of
different races, religions, or sexual orientation. This type of bullying can encompass
all the other types of bullying. Oftentimes, this type of bullying is severe and can
open the door to hate crimes. Any time a child is bullied for his sexual orientation,
race, or religion, it should be reported.
Cause of bullying
1. Lack of attention
Lack of parental involvement with children makes children captors or seek attention
from others. And it causes children to always want to be noticed even though they
have to commit violence.
2. Family problems
The frequent quarrels between the father and mother in front of the child and the
parents who often scold their children cause the child to become emotionally
unstable and become aggressive.
1. In the long term the impact of bullying can cause children to misinterpret their
own self-image. Our children have a negative self-concept and become inferior.
children will become individuals who tend to close themselves off from the outside
environment and social interactions. Or maybe even children will change direction
and even become bullies, but this does not all happen to victims of bullying.
The worst result is that the child becomes severely depressed and eventually
commits suicide attempt. So that this does not happen, that is the important role of
psychologists in child bullying. So don't hesitate to bring your child to meet the
experts.
2. The first short-term impact of bullying that victims will feel is shock. This condition
is usually accompanied by fear and insecurity to come to a place where bullying
occurs and tends to avoid the place. In addition, because bullying is not only in the
form of verbal abuse, but also physical violence, children may suffer physical injuries.
Some of these injuries can be mild to severe. Meanwhile, because of the traumatic
feeling experienced by the child, he will also look anxious when he passes or
interacts with the perpetrator.
III. Conclusion
Bullying is a phenomenon that has long occurred among adolescents. The bully
will intimidate / mock his friend so that the friend becomes annoyed. Or worse,
victims of bullying will experience depression and a sense of suicide.
Bullying must be avoided because bullying causes the victim to think not to go to
school because at school he will be bullied by the perpetrator. In addition, bullying
can also make a child reduce his performance because he feels pressured and often
bullied by the perpetrator.
Bullying can lead the victim to depression. Without a support from someone
that canhelp them, the victim will be alone and feel afraid of speaking out. The
major support for victimsof bullying can be parents, teachers, friends, and older
siblings. Most of the times the adultshelp more than other children that see the
victims are being bullied. A parent, teacher or schooladministrator can find out
why the victim is being bullied and who is the victim being bullied by.If a parent
finds out their child or teen is being a victim of bullying, a parent must speak out
andtry to find out what is going on in the school.
