POEM WRITING CONTEST

1. This contest is open to all bona fide students of CSU College of Medicine.
2. Three entries are required per each year level.
3. The composition shall revolve on the theme: Beyond the Screen: CSU Medicine
Stronger than Ever.
4. The poem may be written in either English or Filipino. A minimum of three (3) stanzas
and maximum of five (5) stanzas are allowed.
5. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Plagiarized pieces will result in automatic
disqualification.
6. Entries shall be in a PDF file, with the format Times New Roman, font size 12. Title
should follow this format: POEM WRITING-SURNAME-YEAR LEVEL (e.g. POEM
WRITING-1-DELA CRUZ).
7. All entries shall be submitted on or before October 26, 2020, 12 NN, at
[email protected]. Subject of the email should follow this
format: POEM WRITING-YEAR LEVEL-SURNAME (e.g. POEM WRITING-1-DELA
CRUZ).
8. Content of the email shall consist of batch, name of official representative, Facebook
account, and mobile number.
9. The following is the Criteria for Judging:
Relevance to the theme 50%
Creativity and Style/Originality 30%
Coherence of form and structure 10%
Clarity of imagery and language 10%
10. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.

ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

1. The contest is open to all medicine students enrolled at CSU-COM. Each batch is
required to have at least 2 representatives.
2. The registration form given by the MSC shall be filled out by the representatives.
3. The theme for the essay writing contest will be given on October 25, 8:00 PM via email.
4. Participants shall compose an essay with minimum of 500 and maximum of 1000 words
(punctuation included).
5. The piece should be Times New Roman 11 in font and size respectively with 1.15
spacing.
6. The entry must be written originally. Any form of plagiarism in the piece will
automatically mean disqualification.
7. The piece must be sent to [email protected] in PDF file with the
subject heading ESSAY WRITING-YEAR LEVEL-SURNAME (e.g. ESSAY
WRITING-1-DELA CRUZ). Content of the email shall consist of batch, name of official
representative, Facebook account, and mobile number.
8. File name shall follow this format: ESSAY WRITING-YEAR LEVEL-SURNAME (e.g.
ESSAY WRITING-1-DELA CRUZ).
9. Submission of entries is until October 26, 2020 12: 00 NN only. Late entries will not be
accepted.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING


 Content (Relevance of topic and accuracy of data) : 35%
 Organization (Unity of thought and flow of discussion) : 35%
 Style (Originality and Creativity) : 20%
 Mechanics (Grammar and Punctuation) : 10%
Total: 100%
