1. The average weight of a class of 20 boys was calculated to be 58.4 kgs and it
was later found that one weight was misread as 45 kg instead of 54 kg. What is
the correct average weight?
A. 54.85 kg
B. 55.85 kg
C. 57.85 kg
D. 56.85 kg
E. 58.85 kg
Answer : E. 58.85 kg
Explanation :
Total weight = 20 * 58.4
= 1168 kg
Actual total weight = ( 1168 - 45 ) + 54
= 1123 + 54
= 1177 kg
Actual average weight = 1177 / 20
= 58.85 kg
∴ Actual average weight is 58.85 kg

2. If the cost price is 35 % of selling price. Then what is the profit percent.
A. 185.71 %

perpendicular distance between the parallel sides is 10 cm. Find the area of the

Area of trapezium when height and two parallel sides are given = ( 1 / 2 ) * h * ( a + b )

= ( 1 / 2 ) * 10 * ( 26 ) cm2
= 5 * 26 cm2
= 130 cm2

4. The L.C.M. of two numbers is 120. The numbers are in the ratio 2 : 3. Then
sum of the number is?
A. 100

Explanation :
Let the numbers be 2x and 3x
Then, Their L.C.M. = 6x
6x = 120
x = 120 / 6
x = 20
The numbers are,
2x = 2 * 20
= 40
3x = 3 * 20

= 100

5. A boat can travel with a speed of 11 km/hr in still water. If the speed of the

Total time taken = ( 210 / 13.5) + ( 210 / 10.5 ) hours [Using time = (distance / speed)]

⇒ ( x / 40 ) + ( x / 50 ) = 9
⇒ ( 5x + 4x ) / 200 = 9

11. The average ages of three persons is 45 years. Their ages are in the
proportion of 1 : 3 : 5. What is the age in years of the youngest one among
them ?

6n = 60 - 6
6n = 54
n = 54 / 6

= ( 2 * 9 ), ( ( 2 * 9 ) + 2 ) and ( ( 2 * 9 ) + 4 )
= 18, ( 18 + 2 ) and ( 18 + 4 )
= 18, 20 and 22
The least number = 18

14. A boat can travel with a speed of 12 km/hr in still water. If the speed of the
stream is 4 km/hr, find the time taken by the boat to go 68 km downstream ?

days will he require completing his remaining work?
