ACTIVITY 5: CREATIVE THINKING

You are a documentary film maker. And you’re currently writing a script for one
hour specials for a travel show called “North America’s Personality Cities”. You intended
to feature ten cities that have tourism character and distinctiveness. You have chosen
five such Havana in Cuba, Panama City of Panama, Miami, Florida, New York City and
Kingston of Jamaica. What would the other five be? Give reasons for your choices.

City Reason
1. Mexico City It is the largest city in North America. It is
also famous of celebrating the day of the
dead. The bullfighting is the traditional
sport in Mexico and the largest
bullfighting ring is found in the city. The
culture of Mexico City is the result of
mixing indigenous Maya people of Mexico
and Central America and Spanish culture.
2. Guatemala City Many of the decedents of the largest
ethnic groups, Mayan people, are living in
Guatemala City. Similar to the culture of
Mexico, the culture of Guatemala City is
mixed of Mayan and Spanish.
3. Toronto The largest and most popular city in
Canada whereas the latter considered the
largest country in the North America.
4. Washington D.C Th famous “White House” is located in
Washington D.C. The buzz of music, film,
art is found in the everyday life of their
citizens. The “Smithsonian American Art
Museum” is also located in the city and
one of the largest collections of art in the
world.
 5. San Juan It is the beating heart of history and
culture of Puerto Rico. Whereas the old
world meets the new.

Direction: Kindly write a short narrative of your learnings from this module (atleast 100
word).
1. Upon completing the module, I learned that the North America is the third largest
continent of the world. There are many Native Americans who lived in this
continent whereas most of US Americans considered themselves as Native
Americans. I learned that the biggest island in the world is located here—the
Greenland—that is not a continent, and one of the largest city in the world—the
Mexico City—is also located in the continent. There are three regions of North
America; the Central America, Northern America, and Caribbean. The continent
is also rich in natural resources such as mineral wealth, forests, fresh waters,
and fertile soils.

2. Hopefully in the future I can use the knowledge when I create a tour package in
one of my subjects in this tourism course using this continent. It would help me
with my knowledge to suggest places considering that I have learned many
things in the North America. It will also help me in the future when someone’s
going to ask me about this continent either where this continent is located or
where is the Canada, Mexico, and other countries are located. Taken into
consideration that I gained knowledge; it will help me to not be a clueless person
when it comes to this continent.
