CN: B9 NAME: Malatag Diezel O. SECTION:12 - Saint Bernadette Soubirous Documentation Jar A

The document describes observations from an experiment involving three jars (Jar A, B, C) with banana pieces. Jar A was uncovered, Jar B was partially covered, and Jar C was fully covered. Over seven days, the condition and presence of organisms on the banana pieces was recorded. Jar A showed the most decomposition and presence of organisms like maggots and fungi. Jar B showed less decomposition and some organisms. Jar C showed the least decomposition, with only fungi appearing in later days, likely because the jar was not fully sealed. The experiment tested how exposure to outside organisms affected decomposition in a controlled setting.

DAY 7: The fruit had a strong unpleasant odor &

most of the fruit turned black. Maggots were
scattered and the presence of small flying creatures
were observed. There were still white spots (fungi).

DAY 7: The fruit almost had no scent and it also

darkened. In addition, the fruit became flatter. White
spots are still present but the ants suddenly
disappeared.

DAY 5: Smells like wine (but stronger than Day 4) & DAY 6: Smells like wine (but stronger than Day 5)
the color turned darker. The volume of the liquid & the color is still almost the same. The volume of
particle increased. No organism was seen. the liquid particle increased. White spots (fungi)

color turned dark yellow. The volume of the liquid
particles increased. White spots were still there. No
more organisms were observed.

Conclusion
Life forms occur more abundantly in areas that are more exposed to other living particles than
those that were not. Living things are products of a living thing. In jar C, white spots appeared because
the jar was not closed consistently throughout the week (I had to smell it).

Post Lab

1. A controlled experiment is composed of an independent, controlled, and dependent variable. The

independent variable is the component being manipulated which affects/ determines the dependent
variable. Meanwhile the controlled variable are the things, other than the aforementioned variables,
which are present in the experiment which are kept the same to increase the accuracy of the
experiment. The experiment that I performed is an example of a controlled experiment

2. The manipulated (independent) variables in the experiment is the jar in which the banana was placed.
The first jar was not covered, the second was partially covered, while the third jar was completely
covered.

3. Fungi appeared in all set-ups appeared maybe because of the preparation process. I cut the bananas
in open air and I did not boil or sterilize neither the bananas nor the jars so that must be the reason why
fungi still appeared even in my Jar C which was covered almost throughout the week.
