San Mateo is a municipality and a part of the Province of Rizal. San Mateo lies in the Marikina
Valley. The municipality has many known parks, tree-lined streets and roads and industrial
zones. The area has a lot of trees in the higher area. But most of the places in San Mateo is
composed of residential area. In the eastern part of the municipality is composed of plateaus and
foothills.
Location: Kambal road, San Mateo, Rizal
Land Area: 40,044.24m2

 Topography

The location
 Vegetation

The area has a lot of vegetation like grass trees. But mostly it is covered with grass. The site only
accessible to one major road located on the south side with lots of trees enclosing it.
 Demography

The municipality has a land area of 55.09 square kilometers or 21.27 square miles which
constitutes 4.62% of Rizal's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census
was 252,527. This represented 8.76% of the total population of Rizal province, or 1.75%
of the overall population of the CALABARZON region. Based on these figures, the
population density is computed at 4,584 inhabitants per square kilometer or
11,872 inhabitants per square mile.

 Economy/Trade ( Industry)

Economy within the site is very poor due to its isolation for the main town. Most of the
people within the vicinity are usually composed of farmers or people that only live with
not that much. Opening a structure in the site can help locals with their livelihood.

 Infrastructures/ Roads

There are no nearby structures within the vicinity except for the retreat area beside it.
There are structures such as markets, public places and etc but takes a 15 minute drive
from the site.

 Man-made Hazards/ Risks

One main problem with the site is the mode of transportation wherein San Mateo has a
variety of conveyances that provide the residents with ready means of transportation.
These are public utility jeepneys, buses, tricycles, pedicabs and even airconditioned
Tamaraw FX taxis are operating in the town. These facilitate the movement of people and
goods to Metro Manila and nearby towns of Rizal.
There are three jeepney terminals in San Mateo, one at San Mateo-Rodriguez Boundary,
Maly, one at Modesta Village, Barangay Sto Niño, and another at Tierra Monte,
Barangay Silangan, respectively.
Transportation routes passing San Mateo, are Montalban-Cubao (jeepneys), San Mateo-
Cubao (jeepneys), Marikina-San Mateo (jeepneys), and Commonwealth, QC-San Mateo
(jeepneys) thru the San Mateo-Batasan Bridge . These routes traverses Quezon City,
Marikina City, San Mateo and Rodriguez (Montalban).
Jeepneys are the most common form of transportation within the municipality because of
its convenience and low fare as compared to other forms of transportation. Other modes
are tricycles and pedicabs which are used mainly to transport people and goods where
regular jeepney routes are not available.

Another possible risk is the location of the site, it is located in an isolated part of San
Mateo which poses advantages and disadvantages such as the availability of the
resources, but the isolation can also be used as an advantage wherein it can provide a
rural ambiance.
