HISTORY
Unlike other people, Mr Mohd Adam does not pursue his study to the higher level. Born
as the first son out of 12 siblings of Mohd Anuar and Sidah Mahrom, he takes full responsibility
as the elder son. His parents earn living with selling food in the school canteen. He has no
interest in his study. He loves to help his parents more than studying. Therefore, during school
holidays, he will help his parents. After finishing SPM, he earned experiences by working at
Glenmarie Hotel to see the operations especially in serving foods.
His mother did different small job such as selling jewelries, textile and kitchenware.
With selling them, his mother earned extra money for the family. After several years, he was
into the food industry. He wants to establish a brand name of the food made by his family. That
is when Sidah Catering Services had established. The name “Sidah” in Sidah Catering Services is
taken after his mother’s name, Sidah bt Mahrom. The family wants to appreciate more their
mother as the backbone of the family that is why the name has been chosen.
Even this is more alike as family business because it started from his parents, it was Mr.
Mohd Adam who broaden the business into restaurants. He sees the window of opportunity to
expand this business as the food made by the family is favored by almost everyone. His father,
Mr. Mohd Anuar gave him the full responsibility to run this business and only act as the founder
and the funder because his father has no intentions to expand the business and only trust his
son to do everything.
Until today, Sidah Catering Services is favored by everyone since it is already established
since 2005 and people trusted the food made by them. He hopes in the future, he would able
to build more branches under his company’s name.
6
REASONS BECOMING ENTREPRENEUR
Mr Mohd Adam was raised up with his parents who are selling food in the canteen for
living. Likely his parents, his continuous love in serving self-made cook to people had open up
his mind into widen range which is business. He said he likes to do “try an error” concept which
also mean that he likes challenges. Whatever he does, and if there is luck, he is lucky. And if it is
not any luck there, he will try other ways and keep trying.
Not only that, he chose become an entrepreneur because he wants to give extra
comfort to his family which everyone knows that with doing business, it will give more money
come in as well as come out. He likes to test himself to find ways to let more money come in
and less come out.
Mr Mohd Adam major challenge is his workers. Since the business is open, it is hard to
maintain the workers. There are a lots of workers come in and out every month. He is also
having difficulties to build trustworthy among his worker. He has to make sure the workers
doing their job properly as in they are only work as work. There are no qualities in their work.
The workers are the main factor for the restaurant to run smoothly. That is why he is having
many challenges with maintaining his workers.
The second challenge is competitors. Since, restaurants are so many in Shah Alam, he is
having difficulties to stand out more. He did not do any campaign to stand out but only letting
the customers to decide and judge the food by themselves. He said that the good food will
bring more customers to come. The first customer will tell the second customer and it keeps
continue that way until today.
The third one is black magic. It is normal in the restaurant industry and as a Malay this
problem always occur. If there are people who envious with his restaurant, this will happen.
Unfortunately, this is not going to breaking down his spirit to keep going on.
7
The last challenge is price of goods. Because of the restaurants, canteens and caterings
need more raw materials such as vegetables, meat, sugar, salt and other cooking ingredients, it
is hard to control the price for the food since the price of goods always goes up and down.
PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE
His philosophy in his life is “Keep going on and on and on and never stop”. He said
when we want things to be accordingly done as we want, we need to keep going on and never
quit. When you quit before you see the outcomes, you never know the outcomes. When you
see the outcomes, you will never want to stop and keep on going.
Instead of focusing on restaurants, canteens and caterings, Mr Mohd Adam would like
to try new business which is having a food product under “Sidah” as the brand name. He wants
to establish the food product and now he is currently on going with the research and course
with MARDI (Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute). With the hope, he
will produce them one day.
OPINION TOWARDS YOUTH WHO DOES NOT WANT GETTING INVOLVED IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
In his opinion, youth nowadays do have brilliant idea in order to become good
entrepreneur. And if talk about chances, it is everywhere. It depends on how that particular
youth grab it with perfect timing. Unfortunately, many youth nowadays are timid. They are
afraid that they will fail in the first try without even trying. They are not a risk taker and always
play safe with everything which will not bring a good entrepreneurship to be built.

HISTORY
Mrs Rosanah’s dream before being a teacher is to become an architect. She was
determined to become the one until she realized something should change; the perception of
society towards Malay as Muslim becoming a teacher. During that time, people become racist
and ignorant towards Malay become a teacher. Their perceptions towards Malays are that
Malays will not be able to educate children like other races did.
She was dissatisfied with the racism among Chinese teacher towards Malay students
happened at that time and ignorance towards religious belief during secondary schooldays.
Starting for that moment, she changed her ambition from being an architect to English teacher.
She wanted to prove to the non Malay teachers that Malays also able to teach English towards
their on race. She wanted to prove that Malays also able to do what other races able to do.
Her determination had brought to who she is today. Even that so, she has no regrets.
Seeing her own races upgrading themselves little by little without the help of other races had
calmed her down a bit. She knew this thing will happen if she could prove how good Malays are
being teachers. Over 32 years of working experience as teacher, school administrator and
academic mover, she is now able to do it well since this is the job that she loves to do. And of
course, in any field we involved, there are challenges. Mrs Rosanah also not excluded with this
situations.
Even though she had transferred to many schools, her determination will not end just
like that. It is true that each school has different vision and mission but as teacher, her job is
same which is to make all the vision and mission comes true.
11
CHALLENGES
If Mr Mohd Adam major challenge is worker, Mrs Rosanah major challenge is the
language that she is teaching. It is English language. For the most school she taught, the Malay
pupils are the majority. Since the government had set Malay language as the main language,
most of pupils are speaking in Malay. It is hard for them to speak in English. There are also
some time that she needs to speak and teach in Malay even the subject is English to make the
pupils understand her. Luckily, as time passes by, most of pupils nowadays are able to speak
English well and now she has less difficulty in teaching them since the majority understands
her.
The second challenge is being an administrator. It might sound easy than teaching but
the truth is being an administrator is tougher than being a teacher. It takes a lot of courage and
serious involvement where the number of teachers nowadays ignores their task and duties
towards their pupils and also as a government servant. Likewise Mr Mohd Adam, inequalities
job performances are also happened with Mrs Rosanah.
12
PHILOSOPHY
Mrs Rosanah said it is not easy to serve as government servant for over 32 years to the
government with the challenges faced. She needs full inspiration to keep on moving. Her big
inspiration is her three daughters. Whenever she is about to quit, seeing her three daughters
growing up well has make her to keep moving. Besides that, she has philosophy in her life
which is “Do what is right at the right time with the right people”. She said this is important to
make sure everything is working properly.
Her next philosophy is “Do what you can do today for tomorrow might be too late”.
She said that if it is too late, we should pray for tomorrow to be a better day. It is important to
plan appropriately so that the results are better than our expectation. And if we could do it
today for tomorrow than do it today so that you can appreciates each minute that last.
If there are chances for her to get involved in entrepreneurship, she has fifty-fifty
thinking. She said that it takes great commitment and concerned lots of money. She has
problem with funding and afraid to take the risk. Good financial is needed and courage is
desired to stay long in being entrepreneur.
Apart of all, if the chances of becoming an entrepreneur is made for her, she would like
to make a catering which prepared meal for school programs. This is because she enjoys
cooking very much.
13
OPINION TOWARDS PEOPLE WHO DOES NOT WANT TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR
Mrs Rosanah said that many people have chances to be an entrepreneur and it is easy
to be an entrepreneur. But, to become a successful entrepreneur takes a lot of determination
and courage. People nowadays have bright idea but they are self-doubting whether they could
make it or not and finally decided to not do it. In other words, they are unadventurous.
Whenever it matters money, many people refuse to do as in they are afraid of failure
and they know once it is fail, it is not easy to build it up again. People want an easy solution that
is why many of them are willing to work under other people than to work it out by themselves.
They do not like to put themselves in difficulties.
14
CONCLUSION
After takes several minutes interviewed both personalities, I see the differences
between them. Mr Mohd Adam is more adventurous than Mrs Rosanah. He takes everything as
challenges and wanted to overcome them. He has no boundaries in solving the problem and
has freedom in doing his way. Being an entrepreneur, he is able to less the increasing number
of unemployment. He gives the job opportunity to many people out there.
Unlike Mr Mohd Adam, Mrs Rosanah has limited solutions. She has to refer from upper
management when there is problem occur. She has to create the solution but she cannot
practice it if that is not authorized by the top management. Whatever she does, she has
limitation and boundaries.
Even that so, both of personalities have their infinite determination towards their job.
They love what they are doing and have no regrets starting them. Mr Mohd Adam has not
pursued his study. He did not have any education becoming an entrepreneur. But he got it from
his parents who started selling food for living. But Mrs Rosanah pursues her study in order to
become an accredited teacher. She learned to become who she is now. Despite of others, both
of them increased up their skills by experience. Experiences are a good teacher than any others.
